OK I have narrowed it down to these two 15" cabs..

I have been wanting a 15 to complete my rig since I got it... I am using a GB S6 with a Schroeder 1212L.. and I like the setup.. but I wanted to add another cab to fully utilize the amp and to just round out the sound and give myself more flexibility and I was thinking of a UL15 of some sort.. I have narrowed my choces down to these two cabs..

I am leaning toward the Epiphani though... I dont think the 5.7 lbs will matter much in the weight.. but the specs look a little better on it .. at least to me.. but I have no experience with either manufacturer.. As I said.. I have been out of the loop for so long on the technical side of all this till recently that I am pretty much newb.

What do some of you guys who have been dealing with this stuff all along think? I definitely want something light... My Schro is 42lbs.. so the 43lbs of the E is not too bad.. and that would basically wind up being my rig.. I figure with a rig like that i could play just about anywhere that I would have to go from a park to a large auditorium..

I have an LDS 15/6 that would sound better and cost less and perform MUCH better than either of those cabs. So yeah, I'd recommend calling/emailing Don and getting a 15/6.

I have owned the UL115 (series one) and it was an excellent cab. I'd take that over the MB for sure. But again the 15/6 will literally spank the UL115 for meaty tone, price and power. My 15/6 weighs 42LBS.

Y'know Rick I never knew that but it makes sense.. I think I will check them out.. I'll see what he says in response to my email.

Lol... "All your bass are belong to us.. " That brings back memories from another forum I sometimes visit..

Funny Story for you. I used to use (and still own a Schroeder 1212 (R). At one point I decided I wanted a 15 to fill out the bottom end and fill the rooms I played in a bit better. I got a Bergantino HT115, which kept me happy for a few years.

After this, I built a fEarful 15/6 (engineered, designed and spec'ed by TB's own Greenboy). It kills the old 1212/15 rig hands down.

Tweeters are absolutely unnecessary for most bassists. The 6" mid driver picks up that duty and covers the necessary frequencies more smoothly... Though I'm speaking from experience other than Greenboy's design. My next cab will be GB's 12/6 design however. Can hardly wait!

And a BIG +1 for never buying another "store bought" cabinet!

For me.. for now at least.. I don't have the time, tools or the skill to build one of those.. they look nice though on paper.. I'd love to hear them. How do you decide which wood to use? I guess that you would pick speakers crossovers etc. based on the specs and the weight that you want.. but I imagine that in many ways this is sort of like building your own PC which I prefer to do as opposed to buying a manufactured PC. You can put in the components that you want to tailor the cab to your exact needs... Maybe one day in the future I can give this a whirl as a project.

Actually, the fEarful design is pretty locked in. The 15" is a Eminence 3015LF and the 18 Sound 6ND410. The cab is built around those speakers. The wood is 1/2" light ply wood. Fairly simple, and the design lays out all the details. GB has also designed a crossover for use (although you could use whatever you want).

My thought is that any of the 15/6 designs out there suffer by way of putting a different cab on top though.
