Ok, music retirement is over

Been there too. I split with my ex (in my crowd, we call an ex a 'starter wife') at age 40 after 20 years. Someone else said it "life's too short to be unhappy". Best move I ever initiated. I tolerate the starter wife and don't speak badly of her although I could. I didn't have a heart attack but that was a lotta good luck. 5 stents for me. That was over 5 years ago and I'm still rockin' at 72 and happily remarried for 27 years. Not playing the bars till 2am on weekends any more though. Not missing that.
Jimmy - carry on with your plan. You'll be sooo happy.

Yep, you heard me. I am getting back into the game. I recently had a mild heart attack and got two stents put in, and at age 60, I am never going to put myself in a position where I have to keep a job I get so stressed over.

To that end, I am also splitting with my wife of 21 years. I still love her, but the only reason I played in that oldies band I used to play for so long is because of the nut on the expensive house she insisted we buy, and same for the cable company I’ve been working at for the past year. I don’t mind a day job but I’ll never stick with one I don’t enjoy again because I don’t have to. My wife is a great person in many ways and I will never talk bad about her, but we no longer get along as a couple and I am not going to live my golden years with that kind of pressure again or I will croak.

So don’t cry for me, Argentina ;). We both seem to be happier this way. And besides, I miss doing what I do best. I will never again work with an a-hole BL like the one in that oldies band, and if a woman doesn’t like my scaled back lifestyle, I will be happy to show her the door. It’s my life and I’ll do what I want, as Eric Burdon once sang.

Yay for me!
Damn...divorce AND heart attack. Thats terrible, sorry to hear on both bro..

Jimmy,
No wonder I stayed off TB so much the last several months...You had retired!! LOL, But seriously bro, it's good to know you are back in the game and going to kick some butt. I had a bass for 30 years that I called, "The Wooden Wife". It was there before my wife of almost 27 years and it was there after she departed...

Basses never argue with me!!!

Rock on our 4 banger friend!

Just got back from moving furniture so I haven’t had a chance to read all the replies, but I will and I appreciate it.

BTW, I vented a little too much in my spaghetti stupor. My wife is an A number one person. She has a good heart, worked very hard as an RN for almost 20 years, and I wouldn’t have married her in the first place if I didn’t really love her. But we want different lifestyles, pretty much always did, and that is pretty much the story. She’ll get it…she’s pretty hot ;)

Jimmy,

Sorry to hear to hear what's been going on. Best wishes.

I got logged off a while back and trying to restore a lost TB password on a cell phone is basically shaging impossible with all the TB ad overwrites. So I stayed logged out until I saw your message.

Congratulations! Divorcing my first wife was the best move I ever made. Best of luck to you going forward.
