Ok, so what bass evolution do you actually want?

Have you put your hands on one of these, not too crazy expensive Guild 140E Acoustic/Electric Bass Guitars?

I was impressed with the overall sound and PROJECTION unplugged. $849 w/soft case.

I have owned a Guild B-30 and while the large body and short-scale lend to a deeper timber/Tone, the projection of a phosphor-bronze full scale string on the 140E is better to mix with a couple of simular acoustic style guitars.

Electric Bass is Electric Bass!

I have looked at Guild Acoustic since because one of my dream basses that I played 50 years ago was a Starfire I., I have to watch my pennies so an Acoustic change is not in my future. That 140 looks like just what I would want if I had some monetary flex

Retractable frets

that would be amazing, just like a PUG is amazing(my PUG lived 15yr before he died and it was 15 years of joy for my wife and I, I still would pull over my car to talk to and pet a PUG being walked before the virus. In Chicago there is an annual, pug parade the first Saturday of every year until this year when it was cancelled due to COVID this year and is on hold. Imagine 250 pugs in a parade getting along like they were happily raised together--this was back to 15 years ago when my wife, my Pug Pugsley and I participated.The dischord happened when a woman walked her lab into the middle of a pug get together---the pus all went after the woman and the lab made a quick release and peace returned
