Looks kinda like a Kay bass. Or maybe a National. Maybe someone bought it at Sears.

That almost looks like a sanded down old ass Pbass neck. Take it off and see if there is anything written on it, or stamped or whatever....

Now, play it like its your last gig, then light it on fire....

What are the two switches on the lower horn? Series/parallel? The knobs? V/V/T?

I'm guessing that they are pickup on/off switches, and the knobs are VVT. Maybe VTT.

I think it is a 1966 Kingston--a close cousin to the Kent fine family of Japanese basses from the mid-60s. Body and neck are probably mahogany. Worth every cent of the $50 plus shipping, IMHO.

That thing is actually pretty frikkin cool, if you ask me! I'd rock it (with new strings, a quick setup, and electronics working). Nice score! Those pups look interesting- are they gold magnet bars, or is it just cosmetic, with the ubiquitous Japanese single-coils under them?
