Now this guy looks like a bass player.
I grew up listening to these guys and learning their lines. They looked the coolest to me because to me, they were the coolest!

...Even if you're not into stage presence...
lol who's not into stage presence?
tony levin has amazing stage presence. his power stance is maybe the best and most intimidating i've seen.
Okay, just for fun...
Time to fess up. Even if you're not into stage presence, there are certain people who command attention. We've all, at some time, copied a mannerism or two from our hero's when were were little fledglings playing air bass in front of the mirror in our bedroom. But who's style wound up sticking with you?
Some guys are tremendous showmen. Other's show poise. Some are so emotional it's distracting. Some are just interested in getting the job done but are a little dull to watch. Some guys have the quintessential "bass player" vibe.
I'm the kind of guy who would never be happy as the "guy in the back" nor am I the type to run around or make exaggerated gestures. I go for cool.
My fav choices for cool looking bassists are Sting, McCartney and Tony Kanal. They exude the understated " I'm a badass" persona in their own way.
So...who do you like? And what kind of presence do you try to project?
