Okay, Who LOOKS The Coolest?

I grew up listening to these guys and learning their lines. They looked the coolest to me because to me, they were the coolest!

Geezer Butler

These guys. it doesnt get much cooler. aside from Geezer, i can't attest to him. but im sure hes cool.

Also Cody Driggers from The Wedding.
the dude is amazing

lol who's not into stage presence?

tony levin has amazing stage presence. his power stance is maybe the best and most intimidating i've seen.

I've seen Tony live a couple of times.

His commanding presence, together with that shaven head and moustache, always reminds me of a headsman who is pleased that he just found a bonus in his pay packet from the Viking marauders. :D

Okay, just for fun...

Time to fess up. Even if you're not into stage presence, there are certain people who command attention. We've all, at some time, copied a mannerism or two from our hero's when were were little fledglings playing air bass in front of the mirror in our bedroom. But who's style wound up sticking with you?

Some guys are tremendous showmen. Other's show poise. Some are so emotional it's distracting. Some are just interested in getting the job done but are a little dull to watch. Some guys have the quintessential "bass player" vibe.

I'm the kind of guy who would never be happy as the "guy in the back" nor am I the type to run around or make exaggerated gestures. I go for cool.

My fav choices for cool looking bassists are Sting, McCartney and Tony Kanal. They exude the understated " I'm a badass" persona in their own way.

So...who do you like? And what kind of presence do you try to project?

Doesn't my Avatar picture here on my profile just say it all? ;)

So its Claypool who owns the worlds most expensive bass at $100,000+. I was reading an article online showing this insane 6 string but they would not release WHO is was made for. Maybe this is old news but I just put it together, yeah I'm a bit behind lol. Thanks for the pic:hyper: edit- maybe I'm dead wrong, thought the $100k bass has gold knobs?

I gotta go with Krist Novoselic. He would throw his guitar up in the air- and (usually) catch it. The lion's share of people hear with their eyes, and his stage presence and energy were pivotal in Nirvana's performance. He also executed one of bass guitar's most important lessons: amazing tone. Given Nirvana's impact, from here on out more and more future bass players will be influenced by his work.

I haven't read through the entire thread, so I don't know if he's been mentioned yet, but Lemmy is not only the coolest LOOKING bassist, he's the coolest bassist (and person), PERIOD!
