Hi TB

Recently retired and picking up an instrument for the first time in almost 50 years. I'm way, way out of my comfort zone but that's a good thing, right?

I bought myself an Epiphone EB-0, which I already know some of you love and some of you despise. If I love it that's all that matters.

Signed up for weekly lessons with a very qualified teacher who's been playing since the early 1960's. I'm excited and nervous and haven't felt so unsure of myself since I was a teenager.

Thanks in advance for your support. I've been lurking around the forums for a couple of weeks and you all seem like a friendly bunch. I guess bass players are always the cool ones.

Took up music when I retired at 65. You are on the right track getting a teacher early in the game. He/she will save you a lot of time. Nothing like sitting knee to knee and instant feedback.

I need the accountability factor as well because I can be a slacker. I just feel lucky to have a good teacher nearby and a few bucks to afford his time. Otherwise I'd be spending all my money on gear I couldn't play. I'll probably still do that anyway, though.

I strongly agree with the above, getting feedback is great, and this place is pretty cool, but I'm still new and get lost a lot...

Thanks, man. I have given myself permission to totally suck at this as long as I'm "slowly getting less horrible". That's a great line, I wish I had said it first!
