Old drummer is back and badder than ever.

The BL replaced our drummer (that's another story) and asked our previous drummer to rejoice the band. He was super enthusiastic. Well we rehearsed yesterday for our gig on Saturday and he was bad. When I say "bad" I mean as in "bad a##". Usually I have to give the drummers directions, but not this guy. He nailed every song. He even played, or did not play, the breaks that we forgot to clue him in on.

At one point he disagreed with the BL about one of her songs. Well we played her CD and sure enough he was right! He knew the singer/songwriters songs better than the singer/songwriter! So we fired him. We can't have him showing us up. Just kidding. He's a keeper.

My bass playing dramatically improved with his great timing and playing. Needless to say I am a happy camper.

Glad to hear. We’re quick to say “Fire the drummer!” on TalkBass but when you find a good one they’re solid gold.

From another thread started on August 6:
(heavy sigh) Oh well. He was a good drummer but we had issues with starting songs too fast and overplaying.

The BL said it was personal reasons. BL said that she had learned of some disturbing information from a reliable source. BL will tell me later.

This is the drummer who's back?

What about the "disturbing information from a reliable source?"

Inquiring minds want to know.

No. Overplaying and rushing the beat was the most recent drummer that was let go.

The drummer we got back used to play with us but had work conflicts until recently when his work schedule got adjusted.

I have a similar experience. Our current drummer had to leave our group 5 years ago for work related issues. We struggled through 3 years of poor timing, rushing, inconsistent kick patters and really stiff groove. Well, we fired that drummer and our old drummer was able to rejoin us for the last year. He is absolutely awesome! And a good human. On top of that he has booked us 5 gigs in Hawaii for next June! What a guy!

Yes he is bald. If a guy is already bald can he get balder?

Yes typo but "rejoice" fits!

We played a gig with him last night. It was the best that we ever played....and we only rehearsed with him once! He knew the BL's songs but not the new cover songs.

People came up to us on breaks and told us how well we played.
