Old fenders that changed color thread.

Anybody got old fenders where the finish changed color because of the chemical reactions?

I once saw an old black bass that had turned a very dark green at a guitar show.

Post'em if you got'em! I want to see what happens over time.

No pics but old white into yellow is awful in general.
I had a really old G&L that absorbed too much moisture after years on a basement. An hour in the trunk during an Alabama summer day made it sweat and turn dark green.

I don't have a pic, but I knew a guy with a L-series Charcoal Frost Jazz bass that turned into a drab "army green" color. Dunno what caused it.

Had a friend who's fender p bass turned from blue to an cool green. Under the pick guard was still the original color. It was a 70's era bass he ha for at least 30 years, sadly he sold it a regrets it now. As I always say (these days anyway) but don't sell!

Clearcoat turning yellow?
Easy to see on white, of course, and blue turns green...gray and black, turns green, too.
Red yellows to shades of orange, etc.

daphne blue or sonic blue turns a really cool green after while (nitro only)

I owned this 1966 Jazz in Charcoal Frost that went "army green"...

Olympic white into cream isn't so bad--my '62 AV after just 7 years:

I used to own this late 70s Jazz Bass (Sold it again, since it weighed close to 13 pounds), which apparently went through some rough times. It used to be black, but it was not only the color that changed: the poly also had some serious cracks.

Two Fender Coronado guitars, one year apart. The '67 six string stayed in it's case most of its life and still looks fresh. The '66 bass I've used for years in smoke filled bar rooms and halls.

Exactly like mine, sans the covers. Mine is 6 years old, and may be a little yellower.

(I suspect you were thinking more of a sonic blue change to a green type thing, but this is the best and only example I have )

I actually sanded it down a bit so it wouldnt cause any fleshwounds. But, as mentioned, Sold it pretty quickly, because the weight was just too much.
