Greetings! I always feel it's good practice to introduce oneself when joining a new forum. Before I start posting a lot of idiotic newbie questions, I'll be doing a lot of research and reading. Here's why I'm here, in brief:
I've been playing guitar for 50 years. Lately, I've wanted to start playing in my church's band, but they already have a guitar player. The past few months I've noticed they have no bass player, however.
As things have turned out, I bought a used Dean Edge 09 bass for $99 and a used Behringer GX112 amp for $35, and I now have at least enough to get me started.
If I keep at it, more than likely I'll spring for another bass, and probably a Fender Rumble 40v3 amp. A local shop has an Ibanez TMB30-CRD Short Scale bass in Coral Red. I've heard elsewhere that this may be last year's model, as I can't find one like it online. Sadly, the store is asking the regular price for it.
So, as a small-boned, small-handed guitar player, I think a short scale may be just the thing! I've been looking at the MiKro (GSRM20). Either way, until I'm really locked into the bass, I don't want to spend enormous sums. If that comes to pass, I'm really into Jack Casady's playing, and have my eyes on the Epiphone Jack Casady Signature model!
Anyway, that's enough from me for now. If anyone has some hot tips or hints for me straight out of the box, bring 'em on!
