playing bass since 2005
At the last gig I did, we were playing at a pub in Barnsley. While bringing our gear in and setting up we noticed some old guys having a scrap, no punches or anything, just mouthing off at each other. When they were asked what were up, one of them says 'he called me a c###!', to which the other guy responds with 'no.. I called you a fat c###!' was very amusing actually! It got that bad they ended up getting kicked out going opposite ways

LOL. They were probably there because they'd already gotten booted out of the pub down the road, :smug:

That beats almost getting in line of fire during load out, when some guy who had been thrown out earlier came back with a pistol and plugged the bouncer at close range. I had just gotten to my car on the last trip when I heard the shots.

@rob_thebassman I grew up playing in Texas Honky Tonks, beer joints and lower class places where altercations and occasional violence were the norm rather than the exception, your harsh language incident wouldn't even register. Sometimes said violent encounters occured between the band and owners or operators of the establishment over compensation at the end of the evening.

I was loading out from a gig in Maine, and our drummer noticed a car in the parking lot which had a rag stuffed into its gas tank, and the rag was in flames.
Heroically, the drummer ran over and pulled it out. Whew!

There's a few seconds between being a hero and being toast (literally) in that scenario.

Probably not something you want to repeat.

Ever.

We were playing a club in Turlock, ca., having just finished Folsom Prison.
3 shots from the open door rang out, and pushed holes in the front window about 30 feet from the stage....
Guy had gotten thrown out and thought it was a good retaliation I guess....

I was watching one band, when two old farts got up outta their seats... at first, it looked like they were slow dancing together, but then I soon realized they were doing slo-mo Kung Fu fighting.

In a weird 'mushroom-induced' state of mind, the music fit their martial arts ballet, but in no way, shape or form was the band playing Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting.
