Hello, and greetings from Maryland! I’ve been playing bass since high school, about 35 years ago now! And that’s also the last time I played a gig. I guess you could say I’m a basement noodler who has drifted in and out of playing bass, never taking it very seriously, but never giving it up either!
Oh, and I’m a lefty.
Now I’m starting to take it more seriously, at least as a noodler: paying more attention to theory, brushing up on music reading, and maybe talking my wife into letting me buy another bass. Fingers crossed!
On that subject: I have two basses, a left-handed 1985 Hamer Cruisebass (original owner), and a righty Squier Affinity P bass (pawn shop special) that I strung lefty and defretted to have a down and dirty fretless. I also owned a lefty Music Yo Steinberger Spirit 5 string that I sold a few years ago, and miss very much now. Current pics below.
My music styles are loosening up as I get older. I enjoy thumping along to everything from Rush to Duran Duran, with a lot of stops in between, as long as it has a good groove to it.
I will definitely have lots of questions for the more experienced players here. Don’t know if I have any knowledge that can help anyone, but whatever I have, I’ll share!
