Old School Sunn horn-loaded cabs?

Here's the scoop (no old school cab pun intended): A friend is organizing a day-long benefit for K9s for Warriors in two months at a local American Legion hall and has asked me to provide sound for the event. There hopefully will be 4 or 5 bands throughout the day. Right now we've got 3 pretty well-known area bands lined up It was my thought that, since it's a non-paying bennie, we might attract/convince bands to play if they didn't have to haul their own PA, and between bands we can run music, make announcements, etc. We're also providing a basic backline (bass rig, a couple of guitar rigs, keys, and drums).

I already have an adequate PA that can cover the event without breathing too hard, but then this pair of old Sunn Model 15 cabinets showed up on our local Craigslist. Original CTS 15" drivers. The original HF drivers have been replaced with Eminence ASD1001s. The asking price for the pair is $250. I wouldn't use them often due to packspace concerns, but for outdoor shows, they're definitely better than 1x15s on sticks. And I love the old-school vibe. Back in the late 80's, I played in a band that toted Atlec VOTTs and Yammie 4115 cabs around.

Any thoughts, ladies and gentlemen?

Definitely big and heavy. I think they were pretty nice sounding cabs back in the day, but I doubt they will keep up with a decent quality 15+horn on a stick powered by a big amp.

Listen before you buy and pay attention to the sound especially around the crossover frequency. I believe the ASD1001 driver is 8 ohms. Lot's of PA cabs of that vintage used 16 ohm drivers. If the impedance of the new horn driver is not the same impedance as the original driver, the effective crossover frequency for the horn will shift...In the case of a lower impedance driver, I believe the effective crossover frequency will shift up so there will be a hole in the response between the lows and highs. Also consider aging of the capacitors in the crossover and degradation of the suspensions of the woofers. The price is right, but these speakers may be a bit of a money pit. All IMHO so YMMV

Did some Googling and could not find much info on the Model 15. If the threads I found are accurate, the original 15s were 16 ohm drivers. The cabinets were rated for 200 watts at 8 ohms.
