Old square-backed cabinets

So the original SVT 8x10 only handled 250 watts? When paired with the original SVT as intended, how does it stand up volume-wise to more modern rigs? Can you rev up the SVT without speaker issues?
Sure. I don't know if you could run a 1000w power amp with them, but they take well over 250w. I think that was an excuse to sell two cabs with every head back then.
 
Not sure if there is a difference in internal volume. The later slant back cabs are 48-1/2" in height , while the square backs are 46-1/2" in height. I think the difference (if any) might be more due to other factors, particularly the drivers.

Ya, most likely the internal volume would equal a tradeoff, or so I would think. Definitely the speakers.
