I had a TRB5 from years back but I've just added a new TRB1005F (fretless). In between the 2 models there was the TRB5II which I never owned. I thought I'd give a comparrason here. Firstly the body: The scallop has gone. It was always odd looking but I though it added "character".
More importantly they changed the neck mount. The MkI extends another 50mm. Not so on the new one. Why change?
The top of the neck is odd too. It was ok before.
Then they added a "lump"
They put a chamfer on the back of the neck joint of the new one. I can't say I ever noticed a problem. The battery compartment is different. I cant get the bugger out now!
However, thay fixed one thing that really BUGGED me on the old one. The jack socket stuck out at an awkward UP angle. So, you eith let it hang down - making a nastle 90deg kink in the lead, or you tucked it through the strap - and it pulled out. I broke 2 sockets before I had enough and fitted my own.
Now it hangs down
