older Mesa RoadReady 410 ...should i?

Hey guys.. So i found a mesa road ready cabinet for $375. Im really looking to downsize from my 810 cabinet. I have agk 800rb and mb2500. I tried searching but most threads that came up are about the old mesa 2x15 road ready cabinets.

I know the mesa is heavy.. something like 120lbs? the weight is not a problem.


Just wanted to spark a debate on whether I should spend the money on a new avatar 410 or do i get the older mesa cab?

Things that worry me about getting the mesa cab is that if i blow a speaker will I be able to find a good replacement for it?




not sure on the model or anything of the mesa cabinet... but it looks just like the one on music go round right now for 429$

That is a diesel cab? not too hip on my mesa gear and didnt know if maybe mesa had more lines of road ready cabs before. Any knowledge on replacing speakers if need be in the future?

The Road Ready cabs use the same drivers as the Powerhouse models, which Mesa isn't going to stop making anytime soon. As far as aesthetics the road ready's are meant to be abused and the one you're looking at looks in pretty good shape. Don't quote me on this but I believe it was 02'-03' when they stopped using the square metal grills on the road ready's and went to the gray cheese grater grills.

For 375 that is the most bullet proof / chew your face off cab you could get.

You are correct. This is an older discontinued cab. They used ceramic magnets in these cabs. The current line offered by Mesa uses Neo speakers.

Have they not updated the website? It only lists the 12's as being neos.

Also If ever needed, you could always get those origanal speakers reconed.

Thanks guys! I have not picked the cab up yet... They close early today so I was not able to go down there... Im really pushing to get my 810 sold locally to get the money for the cab... times are hard but this 810 is killing me... The mesa is slightly lighter.. but since its half the size it'll be a lot easier then lifting a 810 down a flight of stairs ever time we have a show.

I want to go down with my head and bass to try it out first and make sure there isnt anything wrong with the cab.

Looks like an early 90's cab with EV speakers, which sound AWESOME!!! I've owned quite a few different RR 4x10's, and the ones with EVs are by far the best sounding to my ears. They have a more all around fullness to them. Buy it and you won't be dissapointed.

It was mid 2001 when they went to the gray oval-hole grill ....I have the second 6x10 RoadReady cabinet they made with the new design.


To the OP, go with the Mesa. They rock and they rock HARD.

And both of my Mesa 4x10 RoadReady cab's are from early 90's and they are still thumping strong today. I love them.

ok so i got my 810 sold and have the money for the mesa! I'm going down there on my lunch break. I am bringing my amp this time and will give it a good check before i buy it.

Anyone have some last minute tips on what i should look out for? certain signs of wear i should make sure it doesnt have? ect ect..

ok so i picked it up. the only dilema i have is one of the speakers is not an original.. Its an Eden speaker. I guess the owner blew a speaker or something. The cab still sounds great.. however I would like to know if anyone knows of a good replacement for it?

I have one of these and it has four Eden EC1060F 8 ohm speakers with dates of 2/10/93. I have the horn disconnected and run it with a matching diesel 1x15 I got the set for $500 bucks and run them through a Peavey Firebass 700. They are built like tanks!

i actually popped them all off and they are all Eden EC1060F. however one that is a replacement is a newer one made in 04. All of them sound great... just kinda looks odd since the newer one is lighter.
