Oldest Bass you've played?

Just interested, what is the oldest Bass you've played? Did you like it?

Mine was a 1969'er Fender Jazz Bass, didn't really like it, couldn't get warm with it and couldn't really find a tone on it that i really liked...

Used to own a 1954 P bass. Sounded great, and the neck was nice and chunky, but the body wasn't so hot in the ergonomics department.

I've owned four basses from the Sixties: a '62 Fender Jazz Bass; a '64 Gibson Thunderbird; a '66 Guild Starfire I (which I still have); and a '67 Rickenbacker 4005. I owned a bunch more from the early Seventies.

I remember a thread about a member who got in touch with the Tutmarc family and was able to play the Electric Bass Fiddle. You won't find older than that as far as electric instruments go.

Me, I once played a 1954 or 1955 Pbass for seconds.

The oldest bass I've ever played was a beat up 1956 Fender Precision. And although it had been through a few 'battles' over the decades, it was nonetheless structurally and sonically sound. I liked it very much. It had a very warm and smooth tone.

i played my teachers 18th century double bass once. that was a real treat. for electric basses, an all original '60 jazz bass. nice bass.

I've played several pre-'57 P-basses and have owned several pre-CBS Fender Ps and Js.

'59 P. And a 1960 Jazz, so both are about close, and are both 10 plus years older than I am.
