I preferred the Sadowsky, but none of them sounded like my Sadowsky Jazz bass. They all sounded "processed" to me.

After owning more than 140 basses I can say that the Olintos are up there with Stenback, NYC Sadowsky, deGier. So I don’t care how they’re made. If it would be that easy I would have stopped buying basses after nr 10 I guessAfter reading a thread about Mas Hino using Warmoth parts for his own line of boutique-priced 6K basses, I would absolutely not go the Olinto route.
Thanks, yes, I’m totally into the Anagram, the Ignissor multi comp is amazing. Indeed the difference between them is smaller because of that. The playing experience and the inspiration a bass gives to me is key. One can sound fantastic with a Sire, but until I didn’t feel anything playing them. Still great value for money. All three instruments were heavily dominated by whatever signal chain was used for the recording. So much so, that it was fairly impossible for me to discriminate between the instruments.
That player has a fantastically fluid right hand thumb + index extension of the palm muting pizz technique. Outstanding playing.
Great vid; audience wouldn’t notice any difference. Player + signal chain >> bass(es).
Thanks, I worked hard on that technique since my middle finger got distonic.Would love to hear the same test with no chorus, etc--just naked. But I do think even with the processing the Sadowsky has a clarity and even-ness that speaks really well compared to the others, but it's just sooo close. All work great.
Great technique, such consistent tone between your thumb and finger plucks even on fast passages.
Ha ha, well, just do audio only of the naked versionThanks, I worked hard on that technique since my middle finger got distonic.
When YouTube allows I will play naked the next time.
But serious, the Sadowsky is a ‘ready’ sound in itself. Made in a time when fenders needed some help.
The Bacci needs nothing.
The Olinto is like Fender.
Can you share more about how the Bacci sounds compared to a StingRay Special and a PBass? Is that Ebony fingerboard ? I assume it has rounds? What does it come stock with? Thanks, I worked hard on that technique since my middle finger got distonic.

Indeed the mm pup sounds as expected, but because of the scale it is of course a bit different. Would have been nice if I could split it. The P pup sounds P ish. But the combi with the EQ gives it some more options. It’s a very allround bass and B string is fantastic. Huge! It came with Dogal strings that a very low tension, now elixirs. Don’t know yet what is best. The bass plays effortlessly and sits in perfect balance. Neck feels great and it’s a beauty. Can you share more about how the Bacci sounds compared to a StingRay Special and a PBass? Is that Ebony fingerboard ? I assume it has rounds? How do you find the B stings ?
Do you use flats at all?
Does this bass mean more towards modern or traditional sounds ?
Tell me more please.
I always prefer his Fodera.I always prefer your Stenback…![]()
