I've a Tony Levin OLP (go to Link Removed to see me as TL for last Halloween with the bass), and after some set-up work is plays fine (definatly a rocker bass). The Orange/Barbie Flesh color is fun, and the old school Alnico PU sounds nice and gritty. The tuners are crap (will proboblay replace them...) and the pre-amp just sucks batteries dry like no other bass I've owned (yes, I unplug the bass when I don't use it).
ok. thanks to everybody who has given me input. i think im still gonna have to go to GC soon to try it. but i like to know what i want to try when i get there otherwise i get sidetracked. after all the positive (and some negative) feedback on this bass, it will be close to the top of my list. thanks again.
I just got a 4-string from GC last night I got the one with a maple fretboard, flamed maple top and a tort pick guard it was only $130 brand new it sounds about as good as the other stingrays I played and it plays just as good.
Ive been looking at these and they look great and are super cheap. Does anyone have one? How does it compare to a real ernie ball? Any info you have on it would be appreciated. I'd also like to see what the blue pearl looks like if anyone has pics. Sounds clips would also be awesome!
I've got 3 MM3'S 2 Honeyburst & 1 Natural w/ Maple neck and they all play fine after a few adjustmants / setup here & there. One of the Honeyburst was the 1st 5 string I ever played.....and was impressed. I picked the other two up for a song. I'll keep 1 of the Honeyburst MM3'S & the Natural and either do some drastic mods to the other Honeyburst or sell it for what I paid for it. They all have a very strong B string and lots of punch........No there are not EBMM'S but they are definately worth the money.Quality finish, neck & sound.
