Seriously? We have more medals now than we got 4 years ago. We're sitting in 17th in the medal standings, which is great, as the Canadian Olympic Committee predicted a 16th place finish - better than the 21st and 24th place finishes in the last 2 summer Olympics.

Jimmy Page could have had a better performance, and the solo he shredded was cut way too short. The pop star needs to shut her mouth and let Jimmy Page do the work.

It's great to see my home country win all those gold medals and start rising as a superpower. I remember back in the day when the air was polluted and the people weren't very happy. A lot has changed in the last 10 years since I last went to China.

China did put too much into cycling because not enough gold medals to be earned in cycling. However, I can see a Chinese woman being a medal contender in 2012.

Kirsten Armstrong won the women's TT. Levi Leipheimer got bronze in the men's TT. Leipheimer also finished top 10 in the men's road race. These were very good, but not totally unexpected, results.

For track racing, the US team hasn't been a serious contender in the international scene for a while.

Lance and Floyd have nothing to do with it. The Chinese have yet to show themselves as serious players in either road or track cycling.

Hmm...the doping thing may be the answer..? So I remember that virtually everybody on the tour was on drugs - but they just won't get away with that at the Olympics...

Because you're part of Europe, and Europeons actually give a damn about cycling. Whereas in the US, only the wierdos and freaks do something as odd as ride a bicycle.

A little more seriously...I'm not sure if there's anything specifically going on right now that is making a difference other than just a fateful point in time where there are quite a few talented riders from the UK. The UK does have a decent history of popping up a good rider here and there.
