Omar in defacto

lol i've got a mate who prefers sparta :| obviously he's ill or something coz even sparta prefer the mars volta.

but for me its Mars Volta >ATDI>Defacto

although i really cant stress how much i love those bands, its just if there HAD to be an order, that would b it, Omars solo/quintet/collaboration stuff would come in a couple of spaces after defacto, some of his albums i like, some have far too much wanking about, in my opinion. Of course thats just my taste.

oh, im sort of finding that i think i almost prefer omar on bass.

yeah omar is sick on guitar, no doubt, and i thought he was the most original guitar player in the world, until i heard Robert Fripp, then TMV didnt sound so groundbreaking, as King Crimson had done exactly the same sorta thing 30 years before.

im not criticising Omar or TMV, as ill continue buying their records. but when i heard Larks Tongue in Aspic by KC, i was serverely dissappointed with TMV.
but theres room in my heart for both bands

im not sure if its in that video you posted, or if its in one of the videos from that same show that i subsequently found on youtube, but there is close up shot of his pedals. he was using a memory man, whammy, some kind of moogerfooger, boss delay, and a tu-2 (laid out on the floor with no pedalboard). kind of interesting to see him pull things from his guitar pedalboard to use with bass. i also realized that some things from the songs were being done with bass that i just assumed were keyboards
