yeah the memoryman is probably petty key with the whole dub-delay thing. the moog pedal could b anyhting, but for some reason i think its possibly a Ring mod, as it has the LFO control that would be great for dubstep-like whum-whummmmwuhum sounds.

Also although omar has a fair share of pedals, i dont know if he has moog pedals and its possible he could b borrowing Juans moog ring mod.

I'm pretty sure Omar uses a ring mod on his guitar set up, he'll have just pulled these from there. Also Juan wasn't on the scene at the time of de facto. Wish he wasthough; i'd love to hear him play dub on a fretless.

something somewhat modulated and or analog. something with a fair shair of reverb is cool too.

dub delay for me is analog with good signal degradation on repeats (so it can get nice and distorted if you have too much feedback), the modulation is also a sweet bonus.

although i dont really know anything about dub, or delay. i just like defacto,

you should check out Dub Trio. Its not straight dub but they apply dub tactics to a buncha styles of music.

yea the cool thing about dub is that pretty much every instrument uses delay at any given point in a song. drums, bass, vocals, keyboards, guitars if they have it. my first introduction to dub music was when i was 13 and got The Clash album "super black market clash" its their b-sides collection. it has a few dub versions that are absolutely incredible. and yes dub trio is a great band

I got some King Tubby on my computer as well, but i dont really know what makes dub sound like dub, if you know what i mean? my drummer is massively into dub and also plays some great dub basslines.
I've got alot of time for defacto, i got their 3 albums on CD - and gave two of them to my drummer as a gift.

rumour has it that a new Defacto CD is in the works.

Very rarely does the bass get delay in dub music. Generally the bass either holds down the groove while the other instruments get the dub treatment or it drops out completely.

true story. but you get my point. and there are bands that do it. for example, the band we're talking about in this thread.

Oh, no doubt. I wasn't trying to say it never happens, but not often. And certainly not in "classic" dub stuff.

Then again, DeFacto isn't really a dub band per se. More like a dub "influenced" band. For that matter so is The Mars Volta. It's just that the influence is harder to spot.

for sure. i think thats what i like so much about them, its a different twist on that style of music
