On-stage injuries?

O.k these stories are a little embarrasing but wot the hey! When the Blink Covers band i'm in were practicing a few things happened. Firstly I tripped over a jack lead and felll over into our drummers kit and second i got given a dead leg when our guitarist tried to flip his guitar around him and the strap broke. That was sore for a week!!!

Thars my stories

Singer in my band got to gig one night and had left his mic stand at home!Me, being the bass player, was prepared for anything and always carried a spare under the back seat of my car.It had been there for three years waiting for its moment of glory. Not knowing that the chrome had rusted from the upper part, our singer ran his hand down the shaft and may as well have run it over a stick covered in razorblades.I've never seen that much blood from one hand....and I'm a glazier by profession!Interesting combination:glass work and bass playing.sure makes for tough fingers.

A band I was in a few years back got an opportunity to play a pretty well-attended show at a big club here in N.C. The show was kind of an '80s has-been revival, with these two bands that were real big back in the day. The stage was cluttered with all their junk, since they refused to strike any gear for the openers. We took the stage in semi-darkness and our singer / guitarist ran into the end of a boom mic stand and got it right in his eye. No lie. He had a scratched cornea but we managed to play the show.

Same guitarist / singer had a lot of ...err... interesting mishaps on stage. The other one that comes to mind goes something like this. We had a show to play with one other band, who were supposed to headline. The club decides to let some friends of the owner open up, and they're pretty terrible. Kind of electronic mush with guitars. Had to take a break to load more stuff into their sampler halfway thru the set, that kind of thing. So then the headlining band says: "Why don't you guys (meaning us) headline? We're from out of town and it's getting late." So, being nice guys, we say okay.

The other band plays, their crowd claps, yay, they go home. So do all their people, which is probably 80% of the audience. Meanwhile, our singer / guitarist has been drinking. A lot. He's actually been drinking since load-in, which was at 8:00, and now it's after 1, so he's pretty trashed. We lug our gear on the stage, and I decide that we'll do a short set. I call out 6 songs and we start playing. Halfway through the first song, Mr. Singer Guitarist takes his solo, and starts getting into it. He's so into it that he misses a step and falls off the stage, landing on his back. To his credit, he finishes the solo on his back, and gets back on stage in time to sing some of the next chorus (fortunately I can sing the songs too..) We did five more tunes and got the h#ll out of there.

I've played a show on crutches if that counts.....

Anyway, my teacher just told me this story about how his friend was playing in a heavy metal band (hm=VERY powerful amps) with an old bass. Turns out the bass had a grounding problem and he died because of it.....very sad story.

Thats why I'm still afraid to mess with high wattage power amps......

Its not an injury that happend onstage but it affected my onstageness, I broke my finger a while ago but I was already signed up to play at a graduation concert so I decided to suck it up, I was playing saxaphone for this concert so I altered my tequnique to play with the splint instead of the finger, halfway through processional march splint breaks of my finger. I am now playing in H3LL, I continue playin like this because I did't want to drop out partway though the song. Needless to say, I didn't play the recessional
