Once a Squier, always a Squier?

I don't know a whole lot about it, but I'm pretty sure that King Arthur was a squier until he pulled the sword out of the stone.
Then he became a Fendre.
I would have to say if its the original body and neck...its a Squire. I have a MIM jazz that I sanded the original finish off, reshaped the horns ( rounded all the way..no corners....better access underneath...fo real).... Original pickguard, custom shaped because I removed ALOT of wood from the lower horn....but still same neck and original body (modded for me by me). By my reckoning its a Fender Jazz...it has the right touch and definitely the right sound. So what I altered the appearance...if you hear it onstage or recorded you know what it is.

I only own 2 squires. One is an Affinity that is currently in parts waiting for me to get off my lazyand get the finish done so I can pick out parts and make it whole again.
The other is a CV 60s P I picked up two months ago. I bought the CV as new old stock from 2010. It is a very good bass.
Now as to mods and dollars. Because the plastic was on the pick guard for almost 6 years, there was a spot just below and between the knobs where it didn't come completely off. In trying to remove it, I chipped a small spot on the pick guard, so it needs a new pick guard. So, I'm thinkin', well as long as I have the guard off for replacement, maybe an upgraded wiring harness, pots, and cap is in order AND as long as I'm in there, an upgraded pickup would be sweet. Oh, and while the strings are off, maybe this would be a good time to replace the bridge.
Then I started shopping the internet for what I want. It is a Fiesta Red, so I think a gold anodized would look great ($99). Well, the old guard has to go, but none of the $23 - $45 guards I see impress me for this bass. The wiring harness is lunch money ($18), so that isn't a big deal, but should be an upgrade. Oh, and here on TB I see a thread about the EMG Red pickups. Wow, just perfect for this bass! ($120) and looking at candidates for the bridge, I spot the Babicz bridge ($117). So now I'm considering spending $354 (+tax and shipping) on a bass I bought for $300.
Will it be worth it? Don't know. Will it look cool. Oh yeah.

This sounds almost exactly like what I am doing to my '78 Fender MusicMaster. Tuners were getting rough to turn, so I wanted to replace them. Ending up with PickGuard, wiring harness/pots/caps/jack, Hipshot Tuners (including Extender on the E string), Pickup, knobs, Thumbrest. (Watch for the thread on this makeover - coming soon)
Spending more on this than the thing cost me when I bought it (brand new).
In spite of this, it will still be a '78 Fender Musicmaster Bass.
I think the minute you change the pups out it's a Frankenbass.
The minute you put a Chevy engine in a Ford it's a rat-rod....even if it's a passenger car......you could also call it a bastard.
If I buy arbitrary parts off the net and build a bass...and it turns out the body and neck I buy for the build ( although both off different basses) happen to be Squier...and everything else I put on that bass is aftermarket.......am I going to call it a Squier?
No...it's a Frankenbass that has some Squier parts in it.

No...it's a Frankenbass that has some Squier parts in it.
To me, build a bass from parts is not the same as modding a manufactured bass.
So an engine swap makes it a rat-rod? What about changing wheel covers? Does that make it rat-rod?
Take out 1/3 of the letters and double the price?
