My sentiments exactly. However, if I had to have a pedal, I'd choose a compressor.
Which brings up a question. Not trying to hijack this thread, but is a compressor a compressor? What I mean is, is it possible to use any compressor for bass, or do you need one dedicated to bass?

Admittedly, though, I would completely dig on having a Gretsch White Falcon bass. But a hollow or semi-hollow bass is more of a novelty thing for me, from past experience.
