I don’t think it sounds quite like an mm, more like a P with less fatness by itself.
99% of the time I run both pickups together at full… its pretty magical. When I was figuring out the placement for the 2 split coils I tried all sorts of placements for them on a test bass I built. It really came alive when I placed them together in that spot.

Thanks for the replies. I needed some inspiration. It's actually nice to see that they aren't all ridonkulously expensive choices.

I've owned a lot of basses over the 40+ years I've been playing, including some very expensive "boutique" basses (Pedulla, Wal, Alembic, Modulus, Rob Allen, etc.), so I find it amusing that the one that's ended up being my favorite is an Indonesian factory-made Ibanez that I bought for $600.00.

I think a lot of people feel more comfortable driving a Chevy pickup truck than a Maseratti.

After many many jazz basses, and a few reaaaaallly nice boutiques, old G&Ls (which I still truly love) and a host of others... and many many years playing, I have to say it's all back to my '69 franken P with a '68 tele neck. Whether it be punk, funk, country, jazz, rock, blues etc etc.. NOTHING sounds as good, organic and tonally exquisite as this bass. Nothing.

This.....It is without a doubt the finest bass I've ever owned, and I've had more than my fair share of nice basses. Sound (Lull's own in-house pickups), neck (1.54" nut width), frets (pleked), weight (7.4 lbs), set up, all perfect straight out of the box. I've already started to sell some of my others. I tried taking my own pics but couldn't do as well as this one.

A custom shop ESP 5-string that combines my favorite qualities of my main LTD basses (and F-205 and a D-5).

If I have to pick just one from my current arsenal... tough choice, but I would probably pick my LTD F-205 over my LTD D-5. For all intents and purposes, the D-5 is the better bass, but the way my F-205 snuggles against me while I'm playing... nothing can beat that.
