You should know that the original designs were between Roscoe Beck and Michael Stevens when they were both still in Austin. Originally it was a Six String Bass. There is a Collings Guitar connection too.

P-bass with 10.5k pickup and LaBella flats .. period.

I don’t think it sounds quite like an mm, more like a P with less fatness by itself.
99% of the time I run both pickups together at full… its pretty magical. When I was figuring out the placement for the 2 split coils I tried all sorts of placements for them on a test bass I built. It really came alive when I placed them together in that spot.
My Ibanez BTB747. Sounds great, fun to play, covers a lot of ground.

Nice looking bass bossI have two very nice USA-made G&L L2000s, but I'd sell both and keep this, if push came to shove.
Why?
Plays and sounds even better than it looks and it's always nice owning something just a little bit different, something that raises a few eyebrows.
My modded Squier VM Jag SS. It's kind to my hands and kind to my back, plus it has a great range of tones, courtesy of the Seymour Duncan SPB-2 & SJB-2 pickups I fitted.
