One for the fleabass users...

Have any of you guys experimented with different pickups? If so, what were the results?

I've heard soundclips of a lane poor equipped flea and it sounds much better than mine (which has a seymour duncan in it), has alot more growl which is what i want. Is there any difference between the lane poors that came standard with the bass and normal aftermarket ones, aside from the modulus ones having the modulus logo on them?

FWIW:

IMO sound clips are virtually useless for selecting pups for a myriad of reasons. Look in dimento's HB experiments in FAQ. There's side by sides of Mod Bart/SD/LP Flea pups there. In a nutshell they're all very close.

I believe that my bassline (on my Modulus Flea) sounds very close as the Lane Poor pups ;) I've already been told.
I wanted too those pups too so bad, only because Flea had this growl sound wich I want as well, but I think this sound comes from his effect, and especially his GK amp! and his fingers ;)

The ones with the Modulus logo were custom made for Modulus. So, they are different from the stock lane poor with the LP on them. I was told that the difference between the two are "virtually indistinguishable". I'm still on a quest to get a Modulus branded LP even though I have a stock one.

The bassline is a very good pickup. It was copied almost verbatim from the lane poor. It's not exact but it's close. I sent my basslines pickup to a fellow talkbass member to do a comparison with the lane poor. You can find it in one of the threads in this forum.
