One perfect (P Bass) tone

And now we can miss Paz because she’s not in the Pixies anymore either. The good news being her first solo album just came out today!
does she get neck dive with that flower in there?

Charles doesn't like anyone outshining him, and he's a passive-aggressive a-hole about it. He got very upset with Kim Shattuck when she jumped into the crowd at an LA show and the crowd went wild and soon after she was gone - she found out from her manager. Kim Deal learned the band had broken up when she plugged in her fax machine, and Charles later complained she'd "become comfortable" with a leadership role in The Breeders. Paz spent ten years with the band and never knew why she was surprisingly, unceremoniously dumped.
Paz has been in quite a few bands over the last 15 years or so, and she chooses a different tone for the situation. Her Pixies tone is different than the tone she had in the Entrance Band, which was much more gainy and fuzzed out. She also played in A Perfect Circle for a while, with a more metal tone.
I love Pixies and the song is great, but that bass tone is... not great to my ears. Drowns the guitars and there is too much clack/noise (low action or pickup too close to the strings?). 
As time goes by, I can't help to enjoy how The Pixies contributed to my appreciation of the genre. I was fortunate to see Kim Deal play with the band twice, but I must give credit to Kim S and Paz where credit is due. All monster players in their own right who made me appreciate the magical low midrange of the Fender Precision.

Slightly overdriven Ampeg SVT with lite compression. Tone at 80% on a P Bass, medium pick (eg 0.83mm) - and there you go!

Lately, I tried with success some stainless rounds on my p bass and I get that extra "clang" that fits great with my rock band. Cheap and easy upgrade.
To me, that tone is basically "the" picked bass rock tone and it's one of the reasons I love my Precision.
Nah, it’s perfect…it’s driving the song. Lately, I’ve been digging Lewis Maynard doing something similar…
Overall, I’ve been hearing strains of them, and the Breeders, in bands like Wet Leg and Momma lately, and possibly Rocket, but there’s more of Belly or Lush with that outfit(with a dash of My Bloody Valentine). However, they insist that Smashing Pumpkins is their inspiration.
