One Strap per bass or one for multiple?

I have a couple of basses, and a guitar, with their own strap that's always on; the rest get whatever strap I feel like using at the time. More and more, that seems to be my Ed Roman's padded nylon one (Yea, Ed Roman!). I tell myself it's just 'cause it looks cool, but maybe I've reached the point where I need a padded one... ah, the joy of getting old...

I have more straps than basses. I try to keep a Levy's MSS8 in every case, though. But I have a bunch of their nice, wide leather ones for stylin' gigs. Some of my basses have Schaller strap locks and some have Dunlop, so I have several straps with each in addition to some plain-end ones for F Basses and the like.
