Online band rehearsal

Video Chat feature in Gmail.
Most things in my personal space go thru a mixer with 4 AUXs and 4 SUBs, so the stereo out from the PC (hosting my end of the Video Chat) gets sent to the mixer, then into my heaphones and the DAW, but not into the room's speakers. I can record my playing (on a separate track) and the Chat feed in another two (dual mono tracks panned L&R), I can bounce tracks and send them to the cats im on with almost instantly and shoot them over for them to throw in their DAWs.
Its good for songwriting, maybe less good for trying to perform a entire sets. No drummer involved, so its super easy.

This kind of stuff:

I was in two bands Pre-Covid and one plays songs in original keys and pretty close to the original arrangements, so practicing to YouTube videos works fairly well. The other band has plenty of rehearsal and live recordings available so I can practice to those. As long as I know my parts I’m confidant in the other players. Learning new material as a group? Good luck!

I've never tried an online rehearsal session but I've witnessed a few. Boy, they look and sound bad. It's the latency issue that is the problem. You know when you're in an online call, even with a low latency, and you end up speaking over the other person or they speak over you in the 'breaks' between sentences? Imagine that, but trying to lock in with a drummer playing 16ths on the hi-hat whilst you're trying to get a 16th note 'Oakland Stroke' funk line going - it's going to be a trainwreck!

Using Jamkazam the latency is bad enough to make it impossible to play together. One band member wanted to keep trying, because if his theory that ones brain will adjust. (Crazy talk)
What compounds the latency problem is that it fluctuates as much as 20ms.
That fluctuation is only on my end. When you consider this is happening with everyone playing, it's impossible.
