OK, lessee ... what is louspeaker? Anyway, Black Pearl Silver is the finest purity silver they have ever produced (sounds like "the best bass I ever played"). So they were using .015 percent silver wire, now they're using .02 percent silver. They seem to be oblivious to the fact that RF is electromagnetism. Now, they don't assert that it is the best cables ever designed, but probably is ... meaning it might not be. An ad only a true believer could love.
 
Is it possible the PowerCord acts like a filter of sorts, thus negating the miles of cable prior to the a/c receptacle?

The first thing the power goes to is the power supply of your amp.

The power supply in most, if not all, amp architectures either

(tube) :- converts your AC into DC using rectifier diodes and huge banks of capacitors, through which no spikes can survive. Think of a steamroller rolling over tar as an imperfect analogy - it really doesn't matter what was IN the tar, it's now flat.

or, (SMPS) :- chops the current into many many small little pieces and uses THAT to drive a transformer. Small spikes in the power line will not matter since the initial output of the power supply IS supposed to be many small little spikes of voltage anyway. Again, this is rectified back into DC and smoothed, so its doubly sure your power spikes don't even make it into the amp circuity, not to mention the signal path.

They provide excellent smoothing. There is no way a cable could do better. If it could, it would LOOK like a power supply (a big hunk of transformers, rectifiers and capacitors) There is no reason to need a power cable to do any smoothing for you, unless you are plugging it directly into a speaker to produce 60Hz tones. :D

I wonder if these sorts of companies get business through Government contracts or NASA etc.
Are they silly enough to spend tax payers money on this sort of smoke and mirrors stuff?

Imagine how much a 24 way balanced stage box and cable snake to the F.O.H would cost from these jokers.

This is easily testable. In fact, I'm tempted to acquire one of these cables and run a bank of tests on it to gauge the veracity of their claims. I work in the electical/electronics lab in the engineering faculty of a large university and have access to just about any test gear imaginable. I'd also do some listening tests. Hmm...
 
I'm hoping to run a test in a week or so at my friends studio. We plan to take a pre-recorded bass track (we'll use both a Sadowsky and an Fbass) and send that signal to my mic'd bass setup (mesa walkabout, aguilar gs112) and record the amp into protools with a high-quality mic, once with a plain old power cord in the Mesa and then again with the ESP MusicCord. All levels will be matched. Once we have our A/B tracks, we'll begin to run a series of tests.

I plugged in my alarm clock to one of these power supplies and the sound of the alarm buzzer is incredible. I actually woke up in a smooth groove to the loud "graaacccckkkk" of the alarm.

I then plugged in my electric razor and found myself dancing as I shaved my beard.

An you wouldn't believe the rythm you can get from a water pick when you use this power supply.

I now use them for every appliance in my home - the blender, coffee pot, refrigerator, air filter, etc. -these power supplies have turned my home into a symphony.

Unfortunately, I had to sell my car, my boat, my motorcycle, my entire guitar collection and take out a second mortgage on my home, but it was all worth it. I can't wait until these guys offer a 50 foot extension cord for my outdoor tools; I know I can raise another $5,000.00 somewhere.

No fool buys cables that expensive. Only the most discerning ears can tell the difference between the two.........

The one that makes your wallet cry when you put your ear up to it is the one that costs more :D

So, basically, you can boil the difference down to whether you want to hear Wallet tears or not.

One idea is simply to measure the voltage drop across one leg of the power cord with a (suitably isolated) differential probe, and feed it into a spectrum analyzer. This would tell you exactly what the cable itself is doing.

Or you could use Ohm's Law. :D

You can have a power cord which has 0 resistance (LN2 cooled superconductor) which will CERTAINLY perform better than a regular IEC cable when it comes to power conduction. I don't think any of the science people here are disputing that.

The thing i am disputing is that any change in the cable will result in a detectable change in the OUTPUT of the amplifier, or even of the power supply in a regular amplifier, because of the filtering properties of a properly working power supply.
