Only child here, it's not that great - really. Sure you get everything your would-be sibling doesn't, but all that extra social bonding doesn't occur and we're stuck taking care of our parents solo when the time comes and they are older. :scowl:

Sure you guys hated each other when you were young, but I always hear stories about how "My brother's coming into town and we're gonna hang out." or "I'm going on vacation with my family." Do you siblings have any idea how dumb it looks to go on family outings as us only children get older?

Sound off if you're in the same boat.

My godson is an only child, but he's got his cousins and aunt and uncle always near them. They all live within 10 minutes, so he always had extended family contact. But he's never once complained about it to us.

I wanna chop my brother's guitars up into firewood sometimes and just rearrange his teeth he pisses me off so often... but I'd take a bullet and kill with my bare hands to help him.

Yeah... I couldn't count on my extended to help me out with big problems. They are so messed up as it is.

But you CAN choose your friends. Remember that when you have to bitch and moan about drunken fathers or evil grandparents or cheating lying uncles.

Have good friends at your side. They'll always help you.

I've got three brothers and sisters. Life would be incredibly dull without em. Especially my 14 year old sister. I can't think of any days when I'm not hanging out with her at some point...

I'm an only child, i didn't have any cousins to play with when I was younger. I had a young uncle but he's 5 years older than me and downs, which wans a problem when i was little as it meant we were about the same mental age but now its like he is mentally younger than me. So i didn't really have any related kids to play with. But now I'm older i spend a lot of time with my auntie who is 12 years older than me, which sounds like a lot but it doesn't seem it.

I've got an older brother, 3.5 years older. I wouldn't want to be an only child.

Only child here too. It's had it's pros and cons but I survived. My father being a teacher in the school system I attended was much more traumatic

Yeah, I'm definitely thinking 2 or 3. I'm convinced having siblings increases the quality of life in the long run.
