Only Child

I'm an only...and an adopted only to boot. Which meant that I was quite over-protected. And I did *not* get everything I wanted, either. Often, my friends with siblings got cooler stuff than I did. My parents were too paranoid that I'd burn myself to a cinder with that Easy-Bake oven, even though all my friends had them and managed not to die. I wasn't allowed to ride a bike until two years after everyone I knew was riding everywhere. I wasn't allowed to learn to swim, and had to ask one of my friend's dads to teach me.

It was like that until I could drive. Then I became a little Hellion Of Rebellion. Made up for all the things I didn't get to do as a kid because it was "too dangerous", even though all my friends did these things and managed not to become crippled or get dead.

But everyone *assumed* I was spoiled, simply because I was an only. HA! Think again!

yeah, I forgot to mention that aside from 3 siblings, I also have over 30 first cousins in Southern California alone, as well as about 20 more in Ohio, whom I visited this summer, and about 10 more in PA, whom I also visited. And don't even get me started on second cousins...

yeah, I've never been alone....

in case you're wondering, yes, my entire extended family is Catholic ;)

I'm an only child, as is my guitarist

I have almost 20 first cousins ages 14-30 sprawled around the country, but i have one that is about my age that lives abt 2 miles down the road and has for both our lives... shes the closest thing i've had to a sibling.

I must say its not bad not having siblings, but you dont get spoiled... my parent's werent/arent that protective... they'd done so much by my age (16) that they really cant say much to stop me doing everything (they made the mistake of telling me stories)... but everything that i have wanted i've had to earn.

Yeh i had the over protecting thing, but i was premature so my parents were paranoid from the start. And there was not spoiling.

Yea a lot of only children I know, theiy weren't spoiled at all because their parents had no one to really compare them to. My friend with many brothers was telling me about how his little brother got a sound system in his car for Christmas, and how that's all he has been asking for for years. I was all that sucks man, and he goes "nah, now I know I'll get one next year."

I was an only child unil 10 years old, always wanted a brother, and finally got one. So we raise hell whenever possible. I did get just a little spoiled, however, but I blame my mother.
