Only one 5-string Bass?

I would suggest the MIA PDV but, they're discontinued :rollno: The only other option that comes to my mind is a lakland 55-02 but then that wouldn't fit the 34" scale criteria..... I hope you enjoyed my useless post lol. But i bet you could find a good used PDV somewhere.

If you are talking a new bass, SR5s and L-2500 are the best choices, but I know you don't like either one. The Cirrus and Skylines are great too, but they are 35" scale. That leaves Fender and you don't like their neck profile. Go a little cheaper and get an Ibanez SRX 705. They run about $700, but they are marvelous basses!:bassist:

BTW, you could likely get another used Metro for the money you are talking too.:smug:

if you were willing to go to the 35" scale you would open a large pool to choose from.

I think that my TRB5 covers all of those genres with ease. I bought it for less than 1500 used and I am pretty sure that you could too.

This is primarily a hypothetical exercise but I really like threads like this because a lot of times, people come up with ideas/suggestions that I might never have thought of. (For example, someone suggested a Callowhill bass -- a brand that I had NEVER heard of but makes some kicka$$ instruments!)

There is a TON of knowledge & experience on TB and I like tapping into it. :D

I also agree with the Bongo. While the looks are a matter of personal taste to some, there is no denying that they are a kick arse bass-great playability and tone!


Any way, you can't go wrong!

I second the Pedulla Rapture. At the GC in Bridgeton Missouri, the Bass guy said he would let a new Rapture five with a beautiful birdseye fingerboard go for $1,700 cash out of the door. The bass has 19mmstring spacing too. These basses are very small bodied and crazy lightweight. The Rapture is my dream Jazz bass.:cool:
