OOoooOoo Creepy ghost story from a skeptic..

I'm a skeptic but on the same token I'm not going to instantly disbelieve you. Even when I was "ghosthunting" years back I spoke to people who I KNOW absolutely 100% were telling the truth that that saw, felt, heard and even smelled something.
I know that in my own experience, I saw something... I'm just not sure what.

Sleep paralysis and falling asleep/waking hallucinations happen to me all the time. I can't count how many times I've woken up talking to somebody on the phone, with my hand beside my ear thinking I was have a legitimate conversation.

Sleep paralysis is the scariest one though. It's like your mind wakes up before your body. What happens to me is typically my eyes are open, my mind is alert, but my body doesn't respond without tremendous exertion for a minute or two. Often, I can't speak, open my mouth, move my arms or legs. That is scary as hell the first time it happens.

We just had a lot of different somethings going on. You know? Somethings happened when you were alone, or with people, or sometimes when others were alone. Sometimes they were the same somethings, sometimes it was a completely fun and new something. I’ve lived in several other houses of the same era over the past 3 decades, all of which were old, creaky, drafty, etc. None have ever had these things go on. Never before or since have I had ANY other instances. Only in that place. My current roommate doesn’t believe in such things…but he won’t walk by that house on the same side of the street at night.

Probably not. My wife has episodes of sleep paralysis about once every two month or so. It's not so uncommon.
They say that if you can accept it for what it is, and really concentrate, you can end up controlling it so that when it does happen it can actually be turned into something pleasant. Not sure how true that is but the wife's been working on it.

As I started reading your post I laughed a bit at part where you mention Bob. Then I got ghost bumps.

I mentioned before in my post that other things happened to me too, so here I go again.
It's not so spooky in my case, but I can relate on footsteps and being paralyzed in bed as you mentioned. It used to happen on regular basis to me and so it goes:
In mid of night I wake-up, I open my eyes. Then I somehow get feeling of presence in room and right before I want to move, scream whatever I slowly and surely go into paralyzed. I just get flown away, can't do s***. I can't tell how much time it takes to come back to normal state.
When this happened to me for the first, second, time I almost went crazy when I came back. I was just screaming and raging around the room. In the last experiences, when I woke up and I know it's gonna to happen, nowadays I don't even fightback. As BurningSkies said, I too don't expect anyone to believe this, you can even call me crazy whatever.
I just had to respond cause it made me kinda happy when I figured out I'm not alone lol

It's very interesting how different cultures view this sort of thing.

Could also say I was always skeptic when it came to ghosts, etc. I was calling people nuts etc., yup bad of me. But after I've experienced something unexplainable more than once on my own I ain't like that anymore. Of course I am not excluding that I could be the one who is nuts lol but I've slept in lots of places, but really I think I'm not weirdo ohhhh :D

This thread was awesome for me so far, I wish someone will bump it with fresh stuff :D

The real trick is to have it happen to several people at the same time...without the sleep part. ;)

I'd never had the feeling of pinned down or the abject terror autonomic response before living at this specific house, and I've never had it after living there. No paralysis has occurred since...

I live across the street still (I think I posted that account a few years ago, and it was in the Lobby, so most may not have seen it), in a house of the same era. We've even had someone who was quite attached to our current house (A retired professor who lived here from 1972 onwards) die in a sudden not very pleasant accident. Yet we've had no 'action' here. We've just had complete renovations of his downstairs flat, yet no action.

Its gone through a number of hands since I lived there...I believe there's a family in there these days, but I haven't talked with anyone. I don't want to appear to be the weirdo asking if they know their house is really haunted...Besides, if they haven't noticed, I don't want to ruin it for them. :)

Slovenia! What a neat coincidence, I just recently found out that I have some Slovenian ancestry. Up until recently I had always thought that my family was primarily of Polish descent. It turns out we have quite a bit of Slovenian and Slovakian as well.

But yeah, there's a lot of very old Slavic legends about sleep paralysis and such - "stara czarownica"/ "stara baba" - for some reason it often seems to be associated with witches or witchcraft. Other cultures associate it with demons "succubi" and such, Very cool stuff

and THAT is what's getting to me. My wife feels all creeped out in the morning, totally unaware of what happened to me, then my oldest son comes to me to tell me about a creepy experience he had that night...
Just too many people experiencing things independently for me to be able to somehow attribute it to sleep paralysis.

I think I may have had sleep paralysis 2x in my entire life, then suddenly I have two in one night? (remember I saw something in the morning as well), then my oldest son who has never had sleep paralysis has an episode too??
Then the wife who's not asleep gets a creepy feeling.
If this is all coincidence, then I no longer believe that coincidence is a random thing.

If I were to be forced into a corner to give an explanation at all costs, the only thing I can think of other than actual spirit presence, is that something generated sleep paralysis and feelings of "being watched" - electro-magnetic radiation? Sun spots? I dunno, that explanation is about as freaky as it being ghosts..

That's nice to hear Relic! Who knows, we might be even relatives. So far we have things in common lol.
I'm going to sleep now and I hope they're not offended since I talked about them on interwebz haha.

my own true story about "ghosts"

... first of all , i do confess to being a skeptic .
i don't believe a ghost can actually come out and say booga-booga ,
or manifest into some outlandish monster .

anyway , here's my story ...
our house was not all that old .
built in 1950 , and had always been occupied before we bought it .

our usual sightings were when we were sitting in the living room watching TV ,
and we would both see something dark move past our kitchen door .
a large , human height , blurry vision , that would only move left to right .

at night , my three year old son often complained that "the people in my room "
were talking too loud .
our neighbors were all older , and never made any noise after 8pm.

this all happened many , many times over the course of about six years .

we did have my wife's uncle , who was a Catholic priest , come by to bless the house ,
but the activity went on as usual .

we had plumbers come to the house to see if some of the noises might be loose fittings ,
or some other plumbing problem .
to this day , i can't explain the very loud thumping / dropping noise ,
that would sometimes wake us in the middle of the night .

on a few nights , we could actually feel the walls and floor shake .
... and i mean violently , not like a vibration , our anything we could explain .

we finally just decided to sell ...
