Opening for Jack Bruce!

I've played bass behind Jack on record and I hung out with him Pete Brown and Malcolm Bruce when he was doing the Cuicoland express stuff. I also attended a kaylee(?) wit him and his wife/manager.

I saw Vernon backstage talking to Bernie Worrell, but they looked kinda pissed off, so I didn't say hello.

I also was on the bill when they did the Dick Heckstall Smith benefit concert at the Astoria in London.

Sooooo....

Enjoy the experience, and the gig!!

D.

Are you serious?! HOLY RAVIOLI! Dude, you're awesome! After that epic reggae cover of Something I thought I had seen it all...

But now you're about to open for the one who inspired me to play the bass over my guitar...

The greatest blues/rock-bassist ever...

You, sir, are totally becoming my hero.

Now, now. Flattery will get you everywhere, my friend, but there's no need to go overboard...

Seriously, though. I appreciate the kudos.

Don't usually like to do the direct sell, but still: I hope you'll consider checking out our records. A few already available on [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (although I only play on Parkdale Funk 1 and Good Life), plus another one coming out in a couple of weeks AND a double LP toward the end of the summer.

I met Cindy Blackman about 10 years ago at the RegattaBar in Cambridge, MA. She was leading a quartet. She's incredibly talented--even then it was obvious she'd picked up the torch from Tony Williams--and also very glamorous, which made her seem really intimidating...until my friend Kevin and I went up to talk with her. She's very direct, down-to-earth, and completely charmed these two jazz geeks. (I play a dumbass rock'n'roll bass player on TV, and am one in real life, but also a long-time jazz fan.)
