Opening for Jack Bruce!

My band is opening for Spectrum Road at the Toronto Jazz Festival. It's a "supergroup" with Jack Bruce, Cindy Blackman, John Medeski and Vernon Reid.

I don't care what anyone might think about Jack Bruce's music, playing, etc. I'm so stoked to share the stage with a bona fide bass (and rock) legend!

Anyone met any of these guys before?

Jack was extremely cool when I met him 30 years ago at an Allman Bros show he was in the opening band for.

My hands would turn to stone if I was playing anywhere near Jack Bruce. He's been my bass hero since I first heard Cream in 1966. IMO he is a unique talent in all of music. Not many that have the talent and versatility to go from Cream to Zappa to Tony Williams.

Vernon Reid is a very nice guy and sure can play!

He also seems to be a person with lots of intelligence and humor-- probably a nice guy to say hello to. (Just don't mention Ginger Baker.)

I'm going to see Spectrum Road at the Montreal Jazz Fest in a few weeks. REALLY looking forward to seeing that supergroup - I'm a big fan of John Medeski (MMW) and Vernon Reid (Living Colour) too. Wish your band was opening for them there.

I met John Medeski at small gig in Columbus, OH many moons ago. Great guy. Seemed very appreciative of his fans.

Medeski Scofield Martin and Wood (MMW with John Scofield) is easily in the Top 5 of my favorite bands - of any genre.

And I'd probably say the same for MMW without Sco.
