I certainly hope that would only be limited to bass guitars. What would I do as a doubler playing an ABC upright when I'm supposed to only be seen with QRX bass guitars?

Opinion on an MTD endorsement

I certainly hope that would only be limited to bass guitars. What would I do as a doubler playing an ABC upright when I'm supposed to only be seen with QRX bass guitars?

No, unless you like mtd basses better then schecters from personal experience with them. It makes no sense to me for a musician to endorse a mfg whose stuff he doesnt play by choice allready.
Sometimes finances can limit what you choose to play as well. Sometimes an offer comes through where the bass you want is more attainable and this opens your choices up.

With most companies, you'll have to pay a portion. Most companies even bring up, and brag about the fact that they don't just "give their stuff away, even their artist pay."
Try the bass out, friend. If you feel it is good enough to have your name associated with it, then go for it!
imho the effect of the endorsement does get watered down when you see a guy jumping ship every year or two....a couple well known bassists come to mind who do seem to endorse everything under the sun....
of course people have the right to change gear as they see fit...just comes off (imho) as laughable when every change is coupled with high profile advertisement and press extolling the new items as the end all and be all to use 'for life'....

I agree with that. I think the 80's was a big time for musicians to change endorsements every album. Some of my heroes fall into that category as well. It seemed like whoever gave the best deal got the artist. ....until the next big deal came through.
Personally I would only endorse a brand if I would buy the product whether or not I could afford it. Basically for me an endorsement is the same as me saying that I recommend this product to my friends and fan (yes, singular). I've only been in that situation once and I declined because it wasn't a product that I liked.
The few products that I would endorse:
Matt Pulcinella Guitars
Line 6 M series
EBS pedals
GK - even though I don't currently own their gear
Fender - might as well have a sig model too
Pedaltrain
There's a list of other products that I like a lot and even own, but I wouldn't endorse because I wouldn't recommend that others spend their money on that product. To recommend spending money, I have to be 100% certain of the product.

I have a long standing relationship with each company that I endorse. And I, like some other players simply have multiple endorsements.
Having multiple endorsements is indeed part of the business of music.
I don't hate on a person that has something or things that I don't have.
Guys instead of talking trash just learn other aspects of the business of music besides playing bass.

I don't see anyone really trash talking in here. The comment was more about endorsers that constantly jump ship not a player that has multiple active endorsments that they maintain.
I would argue the opposite though. Stop worrying about the business, play a bass you love.
If it were me, I wouldn't take an endorsement deal unless I actually played that instrument or used that product, or if I were willing to. It wouldn't sit right with me to endorse MTD, have my pic taken with MTD, but then actually play a Schecter at gigs. If I were willing to actually switch to an MTD, then I would take the deal.
This is just my own personal integrity standard, not a judgement on what others do.

If EBMM is looking for someone to endorse Bongo Basses in the Midwest, look me up. I swear I must be the only one playing them around here because everywhere I play I have to explain what it is and how it works to a horde of bass geeks. Oh, Genz Benz too...
If it were me, I would ask them for a loaner instrument to use for a week or two so you can get to know their product and compare it to your existing basses.
If you like it and feel you could switch over to it as your main bass, then you will take the deal. Otherwise, you will return the bass and keep your integrity.

I think in some of the comments there is ineundo that some might be a "gear whore" with a lot of endorsements. I can see why they would think that, but I don't think that's the case. If music were my job instead of my hobby I'd soak up evey endorsement I could get. Things are a little differnt when "fun" turns into "funds".
I'm a drummer and did studio work and was sponsored. Now my 9 yr old son plays drums and is sponsored I had a B sponsor ship a little better than what they r offering you my son has a A , he has a full ride. My 7 yr old is playing bass, I got her a little sponsor ship so she got a ibanez 905 dx for $500 bucks. All Of that to tell you this, for the musician who is not a full time pro it all helps. You said you have a family to feed right. Well when you can save money on gear and it be less of a burden to your family its a win. Good luck and I say go for it, you can always drop it if it isn't working for you, so what do you have to lose?
not sure if you were referring to my comment on guys who jump ship - if you were...trust me, you were not one of the "well known" bassists I was referring to....I really have no idea what you play or endorse. I meant the typical well known guys we see in mags (not the letters section
) Funk Gorilla, MegaDude and Beardy McBeard were who I had in mind....multiple endorsements make sense...but switching basses/rigs over and ever, proclaiming each to be the bees knees, only to repeat process in 14mths rings hollow to my ears (and very likely, my ears only) ymmv, imho, ime etc...
.... Mind you a simple polling of 'NBD' and 'For Sale' threads here on TB may very well indicate the same phenomena exhibited by us regular folks...
Go somewhere you can try the MTD K's AND bring your Schecter. You said you have a couple of friends who are already endorsers? That's a good opportunity to check out their basses without the hassle of going to the music store and have the salesdrone pester you, their basses will be properly set up, you can spend as much time as you like with each bass, and get a good feel of the instruments.
If after doing that, and A/Bing with your Schecter, you find the Kingston is a good bass, will cover the tones you want with good playability (probably won't be perfect because it's not set up by you and you have spent considerable time playing a different instruments. The first time I switched from a P-bass to a J-bass I had no idea where to anchor my thumb), then I'd go for it.

Again, I have played them and like them. I wouldn't enter into a deal to endorse them if I wasn't going to actually play them. I don't have that kinda money or room in my house to collect basses I won't use.
