Opinion

I just picked up a new rig with a Peavey CS800, Peavey preamp and a BBE sonic maximizer. I bought it used with a Peavey 4-10 and a Peavey 18. I was thinking about selling the 18 and getting a matching 4-10 for a total of 8-10s in two cabs or just getting an 8-10 fridge. I was wondering what your opinions were regarding an 8-10 set up vs the 4-10 with an 18 on the bottom. I do like the way you can "feel it" more with the 18. I had been borrowing a friends 800RB with 6-10s and always wanted more rumble. If I go with the 8-10s, will I loose the rumble I'm getting with this new stack?

I'm a fan of 10's. IMHO sell the 18 and get a 2x10!
Then you'll have something small for rehearsals and samll gigs.
Medium 4x10 for a little bigger
Large 4x10 + 2x10 for the bigger venues....
It's nice!!! Always definition from the 10's

I'm currently using an all Peavey setup for the hard rock/metal gig - a T-Max through a 210TVX on top of a 410TVX, and it does very, very well - all the low end you could ever want, yet great definition, and plenty of punch... I've also used the 410 on top of an 1810, and the 410+210 rig handles a low B better...

Although I'm not the biggest fan of Peavey, I've heard this speaker setup and if I were you, particularly since you admited that you liked the big bottom from the 18, I'd clean it all up, tighten all screws/bolts, lub the connections, plug in my bass, and ENJOY  PS JimmyM's right about the 10 cabs.

BTW, I've never heard the 'Peg fridge yet that could hold it's own in regards to low end, punch, high end definition, or volume when compared to my Peavey 210+410 cab setup... It's probably more of a pain in the neck to move than a fridge, but not any more so than what you have now - and it's more versatile - the 410 will handle most stuff by itself, or I can use just the 210 for quieter applications - and when combined, they kill... I unbadged my cabs, and you'd be amazed at the number of musicians and soundmen that can't believe what it is after they've heard it - too funny...
