Opinions Wanted On Revsound Cabinets.....

The 5 pcs. outlaw country/rock group I work with is going through a MAJOR downsizing in our backline amps.

Our large, old school J.B.L. P.A. is staying with us and will be used on all local gigs, the larger outdoor shows we play always have furnished FOH, so I'll always have FOH support.

Recently I've been playing with one Avatar B210 cabinet powered with my new Mesa Subway 800+ head with great results.
(I've tried using one Avatar 210 with a different head in the past and it didn't even come close. I credit the Mesa 800+'s HPF for the better recent results.)

I'm considering a newer/updated 210 cabinet along the lines of a RS210 from Revsound.

I'd like to hear from players that are gigging Revsound cabinets, especially the RS210 users.

I'd like to hear opinions on what I'd be gaining by going to a Rev RS210.

He's a 'talker' with lots of cool stories! I highly recommend calling him on the phone if you're considering a purchase (even if you are usually an email person). I had a weird idea for a custom cab (which I sadly had to back-burner due to COVID) and he was super excited and enthusiastic about taking on my project.

I haven't tried the 2x10 but I'm very happy with my tiny 1x8 (the perfect quarantine cab), and will definitely buy more RevSound if gigs ever start back up again.

You'll be happy with it! I went with the dark green tolex and it's really nice. Bear in mind that it's a 4 ohm cab since he puts in two 8 ohm drivers. So it can't be paired easily - but it's a great one cab solution.

I have the RS210. Excellent value and it sounds great. Well built and less than 30 lbs.
Easy communication with Revsound throughout build process and quick turnaround.
I have this cab in my rotation and use it for smaller venues or difficult load ins. Black tolex was my choice but there are many options with colors and grills.
I use it with a P Bass and a few different heads. I went with 4 ohm no tweeter. It's a warm sounding cabinet with good clean volume and it projects pretty well. I've had it for three years and it has been maintenance free.
You're basically getting a hand built cabinet with high end components and one on one customer service for a very reasonable price.
I have never experienced the Avatar brand but they get good reviews here on TB so I can't speak to that comparison.

My only complaint about RevSound was the big REV stenciled on the grille, but that was in the past. I've heard them at the Bass Boot Camp, but not live in a gig situation. Since you have the D800+, don't overlook the Subway 210 cab. That's what I use and I'm very happy with the combination.

I have a Revsound 112, 115 and a 210. First gig outdoors about 300 people I bought the 15 and the 210.
With PA support, the soundman said he did not have me in the mains. OK. I couldve turned down:) Next time just the 210 and was perfect. drums, 2 gtrs, keys. We are not that loud a band. Pretty cranking Grateful Dead though. Using a Mesa 800+ as well. 30 pound cab, I asked him to put a recessed metal handle on top instead of the stock leather hand on the side for easier carry imho. Great cab, bigger rounder bottom end then the 15. Not mid focused, really clear and even across the fretboard. Takes Olympic mkiii tube grit nicely. Dave is great to talk to. Not sure exactly what you will be gaining, since idk Avatar, but it seems you will be losing about 30lbs.

no knock on Revsound, but if you are happy with the Mesa D800+, why not try the Subway 2x10 ? The Subway cabs are built with the Subway heads in mind. Not saying the D800+ won't sound good through other cabs (I used a Berg with mine when I still had it) but it might be worth a listen.

I have both the RS28 and RS210. The 210 has been plenty with PA support. I have also been asked to turn down without it. I currently pair it with a Genzler Magellan 800, rarely pushed past 10 o'clock in a rock band. I have also used them with the Mesa Subway 800 and Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 in the past. Great performance regardless of amp brand. These are very light, highly efficient 4 ohm cabinets that have served me well in rock, country, and folk settings. The typical reaction goes quickly from "I've never heard of that brand" to "that sounds great" about two songs in. Warm, round, with plenty of oomph. David is great to work with. I haven't gigged nor heard Avatar cabs to compare, but I can say that I haven't done a classified search for another brand since I started gigging these. I'm very satisfied.
