Opinions Wanted On Revsound Cabinets.....

Eminence vs Celestion drivers, both are excellent, similar size, the Revsound is a few lbs lighter.

Also remember that them Faitals are a Custom driver made for Mesa's tonal goals and are not voiced the same as an off the shelf Faital, the box a driver is in also makes a good difference in its performance.

Any comparison of cabs based solely on the name on the speaker's magnet a lot of the times do not mean much.
Heck, Mesa uses Faital for some of their cabs and Eminence for other cabs.

The total package needs to be considered.

How do they compare to the audio kinesis cabs ?

I had an 8 ohm Hathor 1203, which is also an excellent cabinet. Duke is also great to work with. I wanted the lightest single cab that could handle most gigs solo, and the RS210 (30lbs, 650W @ 4 ohms) has nailed that requirement. A single Hathor was just pushing my overhead comfort zone. The Revsound is more neutral to my ear, though Duke has cool switching and porting on his cabs that are flexible and change the sound. I never got a chance to play a Thunderchild, which may or may not have swayed me to staying in the AK house. Hard to go wrong with either of these great boutique manufacturers.

I've got a 2x8 and it is a tiny powerhouse. Highly recommended

Ditto the 2x8 kills ( mines an older one ) with a Markbass F1 Head attached 23lbs ! I added a Piezo horn to it as well for slap playing

Another super happy 210 cabinet owner here. I also have a one eight that I use for practice and very small upright settings. You won't find a better value for the money, and they are extremely well-made and designed.

I should add that you'll have no trouble handling the Mesa head with this cabinet. I've used mine at various times with other 800 W heads including Mesa and Genzler, and it hasn't even broken a sweat.

All of the Rev cabs that I had were great with the upright ( I should add that most of the time I use my Eminence EUB, but its strung with Perpetuals using a Realist Lifeline pickup, same as my 3/4 size DB). The 210 was an outstanding cab for both electric and URB, I sold it since most of the time for URB I only need a small cab with PA support. My main cab now is a RevSound 15, 26 lbs and can handle loud outside gigs by itself. I loved the 28 and should never have sold it but you know - GAS....

Don't know about the 210 specifically but my revsound 112 is the greatest cab I've ever used for upright bass, hands down no questions asked. Very clear, not any muddy bottom really. I should've added a tweeter since I do some extended technique stuff that gets above the range of my 112. But for 99% of upright bass sounds (I guess excepted arco upper register harmonics) it is THEE BEST.

interestingly the celestion driver in my 112 (the S type B-250 or something) is more popular and very well loved by jazz guitarists using solid state quilter amps, so it is in quilters higher end guitar combos. I love it, very efficient and very sensitive combined with David Luke's port tuning.


Edit: just to add in case it wasn't clear, can't recommend revsound gear highly enough and will hopefully add another rev cab to my rig at some point in the potentially distant future.

its good , on a 5 string the low B can push it to hard at louder levels but they are 2x8's so !

Last time I used my 2x8 it was at a funk jam for synth with a Mesa WD800 as an amp. Sounded great across the whole spectrum. Highly recommended.

Nice! I have a Peavey Max 208 here. I've been running different preamps into its power section and I've been really digging it. So now I'm considering a couple of 28 separates.

I have the RS210. Excellent value and it sounds great. Well built and less than 30 lbs.
Easy communication with Revsound throughout build process and quick turnaround.
I have this cab in my rotation and use it for smaller venues or difficult load ins. Black tolex was my choice but there are many options with colors and grills.
I use it with a P Bass and a few different heads. I went with 4 ohm no tweeter. It's a warm sounding cabinet with good clean volume and it projects pretty well. I've had it for three years and it has been maintenance free.
You're basically getting a hand built cabinet with high end components and one on one customer service for a very reasonable price.
I have never experienced the Avatar brand but they get good reviews here on TB so I can't speak to that comparison.

If you have a bass head that operates safely at 2 ohms you can order the 2 - 4 ohm versions and you will be all set.

I have a fender rumble 800, Carvin BX700 and Ampeg V4B. all heads go down to 2ohm. The only head i wouldn't be able to use with one single 210@ 4ohm would be the rumble800. That's 800w@4ohm. I'll have to order 2!
