Opportunity to get a T-40

I, in NO way, need this at all. But, good deal assuming it's not in horrible shape when I see it in person?

YES. Cases with the original liner have sold for $80-$100 alone.

It has battle scars and two extra pickguard screws in the upper section. Switches look original or correct bat handle replacements. If it plays well, or has the potential with tweaks, and everything works as stated I'd get it. Fur lined bullet case is a BIG plus to me. Prices on the Epay and Reverb have gone insane. Right now I'd call it an excellent deal.

PS from my above post. Upon closer inspection, it appears that this case is one of the earlier chain saw ones that doesn't have the 4th latch at the bottom end of the case. Peavey discovered that 4th latch in the bottom position gave it better "stay closed" odds. With a good bit fewer made, makes it even more valuable to a collector looking for the "correct" 3 latch case over the 4 latch. I have 5 chain saw cases, with only 1 being the 3 latch version. There you go.

Yup. If it's as advertised, it's a very good deal considering. Apparently the sleeper has awakened and the vintage mystique generator has been started up. Recent prices on the major used sites have gotten ridiculous for some T-40s. And it'll only get worse before buyers finally come to their senses.

If you want one and itchecks out, I'd say get it.

And of course you don't need it. But when has lack of genuine need ever been a deal breaker around here?

Played one once and wouldn't hesitate to buy if I found another one. It's American made for $375 and they are killer basses. I'd buy it but it's up to you.

It is mine. It definitely needs a setup and fresh strings, but I really dig it. Someone in the past 35 years put a thumb rest on it and it has been removed. Hate that, but otherwise in pretty good shape for that old. I'll put a picture up later.

If the thumb rest holes bother you and it looks like they are positioned to put a thumb rest where
you can use it, there is no better way to hide the holes than to use them.

T40s are one the few things I still kinda yearn for - semi-vintage, really useful, cool, unique, and getting harder to come by. I'd say do it. You can always flip it, and if you skip it, regret will surely find you...
