Orange AD200

Is there anyone in Seattle who is going to be gigging with an Orange AD200 bass head in the near future? I've heard great things about these amps but the Orange dealer (Emerald City) here doesn't keep them in stock, and I'm not willing to buy one sound-unheard. This would be replacing an Eden WT400 going through a Bergie HT112/EX112 setup...

Visit the Orange forum. Browse the stickies for the soundclips. The Grand Funk Tribute band's bassist absolutely nails Mel's sound. TBer Macahan's band's demos are all good, rockin' songs (the band is MOA). I took the time to listen to them all and his tone through that Orange is very nice.

I really want one. It looks like I'm gunna have to sell a few more guns

thanx man!

well about the versions there are 3 versions..

the mk1 & mk2 looks like this: (the mk2 has mk II written on the back..but not the mk I

the mk1's were made in something like 60 units..
the mk2's were made in about 30 units.. (but somehow the mk2's are more frequently for sale than the mk1's !!)
They are both Customshop and PTP-wired and a total production seem to be 90 units something..

the mk3 are pcb-wired and look like this:
it says mk3 on the front

cool,

i think you mean there were 30 MKII's, right?

and tonally, how are the two MK's different from one another and the MK3? i heard one has more gain than the others do.

yup.. 30 mk2's... kinda made a mistake.. =P

the mk1&2 has 2 preamptupes 1x ecc81(12AT07) and 1x ecc83 (12AX7)

the mk3 has
2x ECC83 (12AX7) and 1x ECC81 (12AT7)
So the mk3 should have more gain based on that..
all of them have 4x6550's in the poweramp but
the mk3 can also use 4xkt88's in the poweramp (which the mk1&2 can't because they won't fit due to their height/width)

otherwise they´re pretty much the same accept from the ptp/pcb-wiring
