Orange in England

Going to England, Any good deals on gear there, like say orange amps for example? Would be interested in a couple of their products if price was good. What is a terror 500 going for? Any body know, any body over there? Also where is a good place to see the local rockers...

You're going to need multi voltage switching. I don't think the Terror series do that.

When in England I would advise getting something that was actually made in England, more specifically in Yorkshire. So get an old Orange Matamp or a Matamp.X

Remember that you have to carry what you buy on the aircraft. Excess baggage charges can be crippling. You will also have to add the exchange rate and local sales tax(es).

You also cannot just blow off the difference in power. If the amp cannot be switched internally you'll have to build or get built a box with a 120V in and a 240V out. This will have to be correctly put together to comply with electrical codes for your safety. It will need a suitable 240V socket.

I went through all of this when I moved to Canada in 1973. I did it again when my sister's synth keyboard was sent to me. I used a Hammond die cast box with a 2x1 transformer in it. Standard IEC power inlet and a 13A UK socket on the top. Both in and out were fused to suit the transformers rating. What you will need for a powerful bass amp would be far, far bigger.

Orange have an export deal, so are the least worthwhile to pick up over here. There are tons of UK amps about and pretty much everything has switchable voltage somewhere because in the UK we are way more willing to accept other countries exist. Vintage Carlsbro are something that are high quality, still cheap here, and barely ever seen in the US. Serious bits of engineering like this:

'Sales tax' is called VAT in the UK and is already included in all the prices you see at a store.

If I remember correctly you can claim it back at the on certain purchases if you're exporting, VAT is 20% so a decent saving.

fairly sure the TB 500 is discontinued, so it would have to be used....I 1/2 assume cabs are universal ie: cabs will work in any country, but they are heavy, so bringing one back on your own would be $$$...I would want to a least see if I can tour the factory of, or try a Barefaced cab based on all the love they get

Yep, gear prices right now are high, after a certain event that we don't talk about here

... even taking into account the weak pound.

honestly i think you'd be better off waiting for the sales in the US. you guys get crazy discounts, it seems!
