Orange OBC112 or Ampeg PN 210 HLF

I'm new here but it seems like the right place to ask for an opinion on bass amps and cabs.

I am also a pretty amateur punk rock bass player as I started a little over a year ago. Being a bit of a gear slut I kinda figured out the sound I am looking for which comes from a few effect pedals. I met a few limitation on my Orange Crush Bass 100 combo. While generally okay, but no valve sound, useless gain stage, but my biggest problem is that it does sound very different than it's DI out. It does not really reproduce higher frequency details which come from my pedals.

I already convinced that the Orange Terror Bass will be my amp of choice. Valve gain stage, effect loop, DI out and class d power stage in a reasonable package. It ticks all the boxes for me.

The big question is which cabinet to go for. I consider a few options.

Orange OBC112, which is ment to be used with the terror bass. But I am concerned that the lack of a HF driver will have the same difference in the cab sound to the DI.

or

Ampeg PN 210 HLF, which got 2x10" drivers and a HF driver as well which can be dialed in. A further selling point for the Ampeg is that it can be placed in an angle to hear it better.

What do you think? Will I get a closer representation of the DI signal over the 2x10" + 1" cabinet than over the 1x12" cabinet?

What DI signal are you hearing? Most amps have a switch to go between "pre" and "post".

The configuration of these settings can vary but as a general rule the pre is basically taking your bass signal only and running it through the DI, the EQ and other settings on the amp have no effect.

Post usually includes the EQ and can include overdrive and other settings as well.

If you are listening to the "Pre" output of the DI, well the Ampeg is not going to sound like that 100% either.

Also - what are you using to monitor the DI signal? I take it some sort of setup where you monitor the signal through a pair of full range speakers (like studio monitors)?

If that is the case it's not going to sound like a cabinet either.

I am unsure if the DI is pre or post. There is no switch on the current combo.

The DI signal goes to a digital mixer distributed to in-ear monitors and can be recorded. On my combo itself the mid/high details (like from delay tails, fuzz and wah) are missing when compared the DI to the combo speaker. I am looking for a cabinet which has a closer sound to a studio monitor / headphone to avoid the huge difference between DI and speaker.

the 1x15" won't deliver on that on it's own. And I guess that is why many bass cabinets add a HF driver as well.

As far as I am aware the OBC112 doesn't have a HF driver so I kind of expect a similar difference in sound as I already observed.

In the end my goal is that the DI should sound right on studio monitor and the amp/cab should sound reasonable similar to that.
