hey guys looking for a small compact rig for bar gigs where space is limited. Has any checked out the IBC212? I think the GC by me has one just haven't got there yet. Any info would be great! I'd be using it with a GK MB500.

I played through this cab at two different retail locations. At both playing opportunities thw Orange OBC212 cab highly impressed me. It sounded great, was small, lightweight and powerful. The price was good too. I ended up buying Tank 1212 from Www.BoomBassCabinets.com. The Tank 1212 is absolutely amazing and is physically in the same Bass cab size niche as the Orange OBC 212. I chose the BBC Tank 1212 over the Orange OBC212 because for me it produces less coloring.

Hi bassplayer, when you say the Orange OBC 212 colored your sound in what way was it colored?

Why was it only $615? That's a great deal!

You gotta call the big retailers and negotiate. I Never just add to cart if it's over $500.

I actually scored the first 212 on demo for $525! Like new!

One thing I will add is that a single 212 isn't very loud Db wise that's why I ordered a second cab. It's a Great choice for a Small cab they sound awsome!!

What I'm asking is in what way did it color your sound? Was the sound boosted in the lows the mids? Did it sound more aggressive ?

Sound descriprion is very subjective. To me it added a pleasant, warm and mid range tone that's not overly aggressive. It sounded full with nice highs and good bass. I viewed the Orange OBC 212 cab as a great, tght, punchy sounding 8 OHM cab rated at 600 watts. I was after a 4-OHM cab in the 1,000 watt range and that's one of the reasons I chose the Boom Bass Cabinets Tank 1212. If you haven't done so already I recommend you experience the cab for yourself?

I will be checking the OBC out soon. Right now I'm using a Berg CN212. It's not that heavy, it some where around 55lbs. Just kind of big for bar gigs. I want something small that I can put on a stand or milk crate to get it close to my ear but be able to handle some power as well.

Thanks for all the input so far guys!

That's exactly what I was seeking too, a small, light weight, portable, powerful, full sounding stand alone bass cab with terrific performance for small gigs. Weight, size and performance is what I needed. I looked at this Orange OBC 212, The New Genzler Amplification 212T Magellon (phenenominal cab BTW), the Grernboy designed Fearful F115, a Bearfaced ML115, a few others and I chose my BBC Tank 1212.

So I checked out the Orange OBC212. I liked it a lot. Sounded great but seems to need a lot of power to push it. I understand it's an 8 ohm cab and the amp I was testing it with was and Ampeg svt3 whice in my option is under powered.

If you like the sound of your Berg, keep it. It's a great cab, and it's footprint is actually smaller than the Orange.
If you want an even smaller footprint than your Berg, check out the MarkBass NY122 when your GC gets them in stock. Only 15x14.5 when placed vertical, lighter, just as loud, and easier to one hand with the placement of the handle.

The only reason I'm thinking of selling the Berg is if I have two 112 cabs I could use one for small gigs and two for bigger rooms. I'm also thinking about the Mesa Subway 112. As far as Mark Bass goes I love their amps. I used a LMII for 7 years till it died. I was using it on a gig with a gas generator and it fried. I don't like Mark bass cabs. I find the speakers to fart out quickly.

Who more does isobaric "speaker behind speaker" than Orange? I thought Barefaced would make one, but he doesn't. He may have some beefs about them. I am more into bringing low frequencies up, and running, than high loud volume. It seems Orange needs some "push". I think they should make one that is lesser in the roof. I e a 300W or something. But then the advantages of Isobaric may not come through. I don't know, but at 55 lbs I think it's heavy. Haven't seen any specs for it so far. Just bla bla about dimensions and 8 ohm. And max power it can take, no frequency responses at all.
