Got multiple compliments about the bass sounding absolutely huge at last nights gig. Love it !
Just picked up my new Terror 500 and 2 OBC112 cabs today. Trial by fire at tonight’s gig, basically just picked them up from the store, unboxed them, hooked it all up to make sure everything works, and threw em in the trailer.
I so want to use my Orange rig tonight, but it has been raining all day over here so I will be taking some easier to schlep cabs. Have fun tonight.
Really curious about the Terror vs the Orange OB1-500.

Ok, in a nutshell, it went amazing.How’d it go?
It was an outdoor gig, on a 48ft flatbed trailer. Full PA support as always (I own a pretty good sized PA). So the amp is used as a stage monitor/DI, but on these outdoor gigs especially, I need it to move some serious air to project to the other end of the “stage” (I always have my amp to the side of me, firing across the stage, I never point it straight out at my sound tech).
The Orange is replacing the Fender Super Bassman 300 and pair of Neo 115 cabs that I’ve been gigging steadily for the past two years. So that’s where my comparison is mainly coming from.
The little Orange setup delivered wayyy more than its size and weight would make it seem like it could. The first thing we all noticed, is that the little 112 cabs KILLED my old Neo115’s in terms of deep, clear low end, without being boomy at all. Mids were clear and articulate, with no signs of being nasally sounding. The 12’s also had a very nice, smooth but plenty bright top end-something I was very concerned about, since there are no tweeters. The Terror 500 head seems to have a ton of power on tap, and every note had a lot of heft, from lows to highs. I ran it with the clean switch on, active/passive switch set to passive, gain on around 10-11 o’clock, and master around the same-and it was LOUD. EQ was set fairly flat, as most of my EQ comes from my TC SpectraDrive and different EQ settings on one of my Eventide H9’s. Another thing I really noticed, is that the rig really takes effects insanely good. They sound extremely clear through it. Much more so than my old rig. My sound tech also said that the DI sounded very good out front.
So to say I’m happy as heck with it so far is an understatement. I was actually blown away by how it performed, in what was probably the most demanding conditions in terms of volume I ever need. Plus it also sounded great. All in a package I can carry out to my trailer in one trip, that weighs less than my old Super Bassman head alone did.
Just tried out a single OBC112 and was quite impressed. Now I just have to choose between two Oranges or a Bergantino NV215. I mean I love the idea of a 2x15 with a mid driver but also love the idea of easy to move around Orange cabs to go with my head (also my AD200/810 rig).

Two more gigs under its belt this past weekend. I’m digging it more and more each time. This head actually “feels” like it’s more than 500 watts, in terms of heft to the notes and how responsive it is.
I just picked up an OBC112 to go with my TB500 and am just loving it so far. Even with just a single cab it puts out a really solid bottom end and strong mids. Will eventually order a second but no rush, still have an OBC810 for my main rig.
You guys finding that it handles the B string well? I’m currently assembling this setup, I already have an OBC112, and my Terror Bass head should be arriving from AMS (first and definitely last purchase from them) this Friday. I’ll nab another OBC112 soon.
I’m very impressed with how it handles my low B, even with a couple of the more bass-heavy EQ settings on one of my H9’s. I haven’t gotten mine to fart out or sound stressed whatsoever yet.
I tune half a step down on my 5 string and the Orange does a stellar job of handling the A#. It was actually the catalyst for deciding to purchase it. I was very surprised with how much tight low end this cab was able to put out. Now I really want a second one
The GK will run cleaner than the Orange, but it will not sound tube like or as thick as the Orange. It also won't give you the mids that the Orange can. They are 2 totally different sounding amps. Trying both would be best if possible.
