I played through this head, and man, the overdrive tone totally blew me away! It can get as crazy as you want, but can also stay real organic. I dug that tone a lot. But for clean volume, the AD200 was much louder, and also sounded great. A nice, thick, clear, full tone, with great articulation, and no mud. Definitely a great head.

What I'd love is the AD200's power potential, with the option of the Thunderverb's overdriven tone.

yeah, I've played the AD200 a few times and love it. It is on my "to get list". I play through an SVT CL for the power and tube grit into an Ampeg 610. I've just been curious as to whether I'd be able to cope with the lower wattage as i've never been able to try those heads in a band setting. Most things sound great at low volume in the shop, But I really need the juice.

I tried the Thunderverb last night on an Ampeg 810. I used a new Fender P and it sounded like "Live at Leeds". It was the ultimate growly rock sound. It wasn't as fat as the AD200's I've played, but it had a more pronounced presence IMO. And ofcourse Channel B: thick tube overdrive. It was fun to play, but I'd go w/ the warmer sounding AD200 for my needs. However if I was needing the Geezer Butler tone, this is the amp.

I agree. The Thunderverb is a really 'fun' head, but ultimately, I found it not as satisfying as the AD200. And on the flip side, I am finding that now that I have spent some time with my AD200B MK3, I am actually able to get a killer overdriven tone as well. What a great head!
