Orange vs Mesa

I think im gonna sell my SVT and try to get a good used Mesa 8x10

I've seen them for a decent price on GC's used gear pages once in awhile - if you can get them to ship for a reasonable amount, you're in... Be advised that it's a heavy cab - IIRC, 173lbs - but it's well laid out, with handles on the side, top rear endgs, and recessed handles on the bottom - with glide rails on the back, and tilt back casters... For normal rolling, and tilt and slide loading, it's very manageable - stairs can be a challenge, I suppose - I rarely deal with many of them...

As I said, it's the best cab I've played thru - and after 2 years and approx. 150 gigs, I have no intention of parting with it... For a person in a loud band, it's truly a 1 cab solution...

Thanks - it's literally the best rig I've ever played thru, and I've played pretty much everything except the fEARless cabs... I just sold a Streamliner 600, but will be buying a Streamliner 900 within a week to replace it - and I gig with some combination of the below:

Love the huge selection of licorice pizzas' and the rig.

Mesa stuff is great, but they need to get with the times and build some more lightweight gear (besides the walkabout!).
Orange amps are okay (I kind of like Matamp or Electric Amps better for that type of amp).
As far as cabs, the Isobaric thing would have been a game changer 40 years ago when the only available 10" drivers were very low power handling. These days it is kinda pointless.
I can't speak for Oranges 15" or 8x10 cabs. Havent seen em.
But Mesa makes what many consider to be the best 8x10 in the business.
If I was still looking for heavy, ungodly loud cabs it would be Aguilar or Mesa. Orange isn't even on the map.

Weight doesn't really concern me, and I live and Florida so really no stair venues to worry about. Plus I have a truck and dolly if needed. Im really thinking of investing in one. Just gonna hunt one down in my price range.

I think you'd really like one, then - I just wanted to make sure I fully informed you... The dolly won't be necessary - the cab already has everything it needs in that regard...

Because of the weight of the 8x10, I decided to go the route of 2 Mesa PH 4x10's, I can also just bring one to smaller venue's, but both 4x10's and my Mesa M-9 can crack a foundation:D

To each their own - I've used separate cabs before, and won't go back to that... To me, one large cab is far more convenient than 2 separates - less lifting, less trips...

I agree, go Mesa all the way. I have owned the PowerHouse 610 cab in the past and that thing was pure awesome, had to sell it, but now I own a PowerHouse 215 cab and again it's pure awesome! Under it all it is pure personal choice. Both cater a look appeal and sound appeal that may be great for one bassist but not the next.

I've heard people debate the benefits if adding a 15 to you 410 rig before, but never adding a 215 to you 810!!!

Rock on!
