Ordering from BassStrings Online? Maybe just me but...

Perhaps I'm only an isolated instance with ordering from BassStrings Online and maybe you players can chip in and let me know about your experience's. That being said;

I ordered two sets of strings 11 business days ago and never got a 'has shipped email' or anything that might indicate a delay or not in stock or actually any contact other my billing email. Sent them an email today and they said that they were out of stock on the one set ( 4-string, mid-scale, La Bella Original 1954 Fender's) and that they would ship a 5-string set of those tomorrow, which I am appreciative of. The other set I ordered was shipped out today (4 String Set, medium scale, La Bella Deep Talkin' Round Wound Bass Strings).

OK, I get that these are Medium Scale sets and not the kind that may not be sitting on the shelf waiting to be sold. But at some point I would think that if there was going to be a delay, shouldn't I have been told something? I might have changed to a different set or just been fine to wait - but at least I'd have known even if wasn't possible to make a change.

If they wanted to wait to make one shipment with both sets instead of two separate one's would be understandable if they were paying for the shipping but I'm paying the shipping so IMHO you ship what you have. And again I would expect some kind of notice.

So I guess first of all, has anyone else had any issues with them or think I'm out of line with my communication expectations? They have a professional website with lots of good info and great pricing. However, it would affect my decision as far as being a continuing customer if this seems to be typical.

I expect that this is not the norm for them and did reply to their email saying that I was appreciative of what they are doing now and Jason has responded while I've been ranting here so I definitely feel a lot more comfortable. But, just call it my need for a hug or a warning.

I think you will be hard pressed to find any negative reviews of bso here. FWIW, their website does let you know what is/is not in stock and gives an estimate of time to shipping. And Jason seems to bend over backwards to do right by his customers. My own experience is that the longest part of shipping is Canada Customs at Pearson airport.

This has to be an isolated instance with me as I just got off the phone (for like an hour) with Jason. Actually he called when he saw this post so that's a completely extreme level of service that I never would have expected from anyone. He just wanted to make sure we were cool. We're both good with the details and for him to take the time to actually call me about the situation was a extreme level 0f customer service that I never would of expected from anyone. However, like I said previously, this was my first order and I just didn't know so I was asking for input from you folks (thanx to all who jumped in). I had originally assumed that what wasn't the norm but I just didn't know.

I have called, he took my call WHILE IN HIS CAR AT THE DRIVE THROUGH getting his lunch, he could have let it go to voicemail...
I have met him twice and he is beyond gracious.
He is the Only vendor I will buy strings and things from, possibly for life.
Besides he's got the widest selection and lowest prices on the net.

I have to concur with the comments here.

I'm a big local-store guy and try to buy from them when I can. But when the strings are several dollars cheaper per set, they are always in stock (not everyone stocks the EB Power Slinkys, much less the DR DDTs that are due to arrive tomorrow and I'm very anxious to try), and the shipping is free, I have to be practical and I'm happy to order from BSO and thankful that they are around.
